CowboyStudio 30 Watt Daylight Balanced Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb

If you have not used full spectrum "Daylight" florescents, you are in for a treat. Photographic grade full spectrum compact florescent bulbs make standard cheap florescent bulbs look dingy yellow, by comparison. The improved ambiance and mood is obvious. I am ordering more full spectrum "daylight" bulbs, and making certain that every room has at least one full spectrum bulb in it. Eventually all bulbs will be replaced with full spectrum.Warning on Size: The base of this bulb is similar to standard 23 watt compact florescents, but the spiral tube is larger, and fits most of my fixtures, but not all.There are a number of larger full spectrum compact florescents that have incandescent equivalents up to 400 watts. The bulbs get larger with each bump up in lumins, and the number of fixtures they will fit diminishes as the size increases. At 400 watts, the bulbs are gargantuan and only fit specialty fixtures.Buy full spectrum bulbs!!! Have a bright cheerful day. The bulbs are well worth the small premium in price. I am an expert in SAD (seasonal affect disorder).

These were bought to replace the bulbs in a Cowboy Studio setup. I didn't think the color would be the same as the originals, so I replaced all four. I was right, they are about 400K cooler, much brighter and a little fatter. Very happy with my purchase, and almost half the price of sourcing locally.

I ordered this light because there is only one lamp in a big room and these lights put off a very white even light. I ordered 2. I put one in my work shop and one in my living room. the one outside went out after a day. maybe 2 hr of actual use. and the one in my living room went out after 2 days. Maybe 7 hr of actual use.Great light source but will be going with a different brand name.

They do the job. Close to daylight balanced. Not a huge amount of light output, and what there is is very diffused, so you need to know how to use these for the appropriate jobs.Note, they do flicker at high frame rates.

These should not be left on for long periods. I was photographing with a few of these and after 3 hours one overheated the plastic casing and exploded at my face. Another was damaged setting it on the counter. Pretty fragile. ALthough when they're working the light is great. There's got to be better lights out there with the same look.

as far as Brightness , well the Camera can adjust for that . but what is a issue if you have the table top Light set from Cowboy its to protect against , the blubs being broken. these will kind of help because they are shorter so less exposed beyond the small reflectors . so far they have been working ok.I did recently find a safer alternative . they look like a normal household light bulb like Thomas Edison designed way back when . you know the classic Bulb shape, but Fluorescent , but they take longer to warm up.anyway if you still insist on curly cue fragile bulbs, these will do the job. adjust your camera you don't need the sun. :)

I honestly don't know what to say about these other than they continue to shine brightly after a year. I used 2 of them in a small in-home green screen studio, with "CowboyStudio 33 inch Black and Silver Photo Studio Reflective Umbrella", which are also very good for me. The lighting is reliable and I can see no reason not to recommend these. Sorry for lack of technical details.

The bulbs are nice and bright but it seems like they don't really illuminate as well as I was hoping. I think my expectations were too high. Perfect for using as fill lighting or for continuous lighting for one or two small children who may be timid with flash.
