is this loud enough to make telemarketers stop calling #s that are on a no call list? Sick of them....

I only use a whistle on scammers from different countries since there is no recourse and there scamming the elderly. In the United States, they can sue you even though they're breaking the law. I sued a Telemarketer last year for $5 Million and they settled for $15,000. Not bad for 2 hours work. I make about $5,000 a month suing Telemarketers. The Telemarketer I sued for $5 Million didn't want to settle so I hired an attorney that specializes in suing telemarketers. You can purchase kits that show you how to do settlements on Telemarketers and if they don't settle you can get an attorney that will help you collect, they get a percentage of what is collected.

Is this a good deterrent for bear encounter? For when its time apear large and make a lot of noise to scare them off?

It's been a long time since I encountered bears but I would guess the whistle wouldn't be as effective as a good set of legs. With that said, the whistle is loud.
