Might be the best teen movie ever
One of the best films of the year. Perfectly encapsulates that awkward feeling of growing up with anxiety and the teenage obsession with wanted to be popular and loved. Performances all natural and subtle feels almost like a documentary. This is essential viewing. An almost perfect film

A great watch for 12+ girls and their parents.
So much like the real move from primary to the first couple of years at high school. Watched with my 14 and 12 year old girls and we all saw so many familiar issues that they have felt and experienced. A very good watch.

Missed potential
This was a nice watch, very true at times especially as the dad was the most relevant and realistic character, but it could have been so much more and I felt it did not fully touch on the angst or the discomfort of all the teenagers. The lead was great of course, but I think she got off very lightly from her peers and social media, both of whom are far crueller in real life. Worth a watch but I feel there are far grittier representations of teenagers and their experiences out there just now

Utter tripe about a severely depressed young girl!
This movie is a travesty! The main character is a serverely depressed 12-13 year old girl with a father who has no idea of what she's going through but instead gives her a sappy speech about how awesome she is to him which for some unknown reason suddenly makes her perfectly fine when what she really needs is a Psychiatrist! Let's not even mention the 16 year old boy ambushing her in the back of his car that isn't addressed at all! As someone who was bullied at school and became severely depressed myself I found this movie to be utterly irredeemable in its triteness and complete abrogation of the real effects of ostracisation! I almost blew up at how pathetic the father character really was and at how he was basically telling her how he'd done absolutely nothing to help her through her life because he was too busy mooning over how awesome his daughter was to notice the severe mental scarring that her mother's leaving had clearly left on her!

Good film
Good movie about how tough it can be growing up. Was expecting a comedy due to it being Bo Burnhams film and not reading anything about it before hand but it is not but still good.

Accurate insight, heartbreaking and entertaining
I'm a guidance and pastoral teacher working in a senior school with this age group of children - superb movie with great insight. While parents might not be "target audience", they should not miss this heartbreaking and insightful film. Well done Bo Burnham.

Bo Burnham created something special here. A must-watch.
A seminal film with so much heart that everybody should see, especially teens. The performances are perfect across the board and Bo Burnham is genius. Highly recommended.
