It never leaks, it's effortless to use one-handed, it keeps drinks HOT! A perfect mug!
I will confess first, before I begin, that I have a pretty strong bias toward Japanese products. This is going back to the days when Sony had no equal in electronics, and when Toyota/Honda were leading the small car revolution. With that said, please forgive me if I sound too impressed with this home run of a mug purchase. I had heard that zojirushi made good products, but I've had some bad travel mugs and figured it could have been just another cash-in on brand power. I ordered the stainless steel 12oz because I needed a small one for easy travel (most of my travel is on foot or on bike, living in a big city and all), and when it came, I did thorough investigation of its capabilities. Immediately, I went to the kitchen sink. I filled the mug with water, sealed on the cap, locked the lid, and proceeded to turn it sideways, hold it upside-down, swing it around, shake it vigorously (while still upside-down too!), I pretty much did everything I could, short of anything that might damage the mug. Not a single drop came close to wetting my hand or anywhere else. I even wiped the counter with a rag afterward, just to see if I missed something. It was bone-dry. Next came Coffee. I love coffee, drinking several cups a day and switching to decaf so I can drink more in the afternoon and after dinner. I filled this mug up with fresh coffee, and even half an hour later I almost had to nurse drinking it to avoid burning myself; The coffee was practically just as hot as when I had poured it. I proceeded to comfortably drink hot coffee for several hours without any need to reheat or refill my mug (except of course, for more coffee). Amusingly, it even kept coffee hot longer than the insulated coffee pot did! (funny that one, maybe I should get a zojirushi coffee maker too) Lastly, the ease of operations challenge. They claim that it's easy to open this mug, drink, and then close it, all with one hand. I will admit, at first it took me a little bit of getting used to the operation, but within a few days at most I was using it fluidly with one hand, which was perfect for my commute, or when shopping at busy downtown markets. I could walk through thick crowds (this is pre-covid of course) and not have any problems with opening it, drinking more coffee, and closing it. Of course, it was still hot even when walking in the nippy winter air. This really is my idea of a perfect travel mug. You can't make it leak (even when you throw it sideways into a purse for a few hours), you really can use it one-handed, and it really does keep the drinks hot. I've done tea in this as well and it was just as good an experience; Never tried hot cocoa as zojirushi advises against milk products being used (If I recall correctly, it was something to do with the pressurized, sealed containers being able to build pressure due to milk doing what milk does). Regardless, what I've asked of it, the mug has proceeded to do with flying colors. I cannot recommend this mug strongly enough. If you ever find yourself wanting to have a small, reliable, and easy-to-use travel mug, then you cannot go wrong with zojirushi.

High Quality
I need a petite travel mug to fit in my cup holder, but this was a bit too tall and thin to fit well. I also like to pourover brew my coffee straight into the cup, but the opening is too narrow for my hario pourover. I do however love the size for slipping in a work bag or purse and it seals well with zero leaks. The flip top is really convenient too. The mug keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold better than any mug I've ever had. For hot drinks I've found they stay too hot to drink for hours. I traveled with it and used it for ice water and the ice stayed frozen for 2 days. While not exactly the mug I was searching for, this is an exceptionally high quality mug.

Keeps it very hot!
Well built, easy to clean, and keeps my coffee so hot I could burn myself an hour after I pack it - there is even a warning sticker! I thought it was BS but it's true, you can easily burn your mouth with how hot it keeps your coffee. It's also metal so it can withstand a drop or two. Fits easily into any cup holder or backpack and DOES NOT LEAK. Checks all the boxes - expensive but worth every penny

Perfect performance
Love this — seal is excellent, heat retention is excellent, quality is excellent, attractive colors — I have two sizes, I use both equally as often. My two are perfect, for tea or coffee, water, juices, protein shakes. Not hot to the touch outside. I have other Zojirushi products — one pan from twenty years ago I still use constantly — that you heat on the stove and then slip into its thermal container. Very high quality useful products.

Keeps bevs hot, and doesnt leak... I cant find anything wrong with this thermos!
This is literally the best thermos I have ever owned! Temperature: I poured hot tea in it and was so busy I didnt drink it at school all day. So on my way home (10 hours later) I decided I didnt want to waste good tea and took a swig. OMG NOT A GOOD IDEA. It was still too hot for me! Even though I regretted that for a few seconds I was really surprised and impressed by this. Just for fun one time I tested it by pouring boiling water in it then 2 min later putting the cap on. I then checked the temp 18 hours later. Still hot. STILL HOT. Not warm. HOT. I do live in a warmer area so the coldest environmental temp was probably like 68-70F. With a vacuum seal that shouldnt matter but its worth mentioning. Cleaning: so easy! It comes apart and you can just wash and dry everything really well. Then reassemble in a few seconds. I even accidentally left milk and coffee go a little stinky in here once and after a regular wash there was no smell at all. That only happened one time but I was really happy about the lack of reminders of my mistake. Use: I have definitely locked this and just tossed it into my bag before. Its very secure and I have had 0 spills in 6 months of use. Also I like that when you tilt it to drink you dont get a Niagara Falls size gush of liquid onto your face. VIDEO: b/c I was confused about the parts so I thought others could use the help. UPDATE February 2015 (posted as a comment but moved here for visibility): Original video poster here! Glad some of you found my video helpful! I couldn't tell what the parts were and I thought this thermos was awesome and deserved a review so thats why I made it. Anyhow, I have had this same thermos for 1.5 years now and its still going strong. Ive taken it on lots of plane trips, shoved it in various luggages/bins to travel, really abused it as far as a thermos goes. But thats why I bought it! Still keeps my drinks unfailingly hot/cold, doesn't leak, looks great, and is still basically awesome. I even bought a couple more thermoses for family members and they are having the same success. Its worth the up front investment for this one. It does seem like a lot when you have $5-10 choices at supermarkets. I bought a bottle brush to clean it (OXO good grips bottle brush from supermarket) and it works perfectly. I don't take the whole thing apart every time- just give the parts a soapy soak/wash every few times then air dry and reassemble. 1/2023: still going strong. Use weekly or so now, I don’t think this will ever die?

Nice steel mug
I bought this mug for my mom because she likes her water to stay warm. It works great for that. It keeps the temperature for a long time. It looks nice too. The only problem is the lid is a little hard for her to open. But overall, it's a very good mug.

It really is the best travel mug. The lock is leak proof, the bottle keeps the heat for hours. We've had a few of them over the years and always repurchase (once one gets worn out or lost!). This is a small size, but it is perfect for having a bit of tea or coffee on the go.

Snygg men håller inte värmen lika bra som sina föregångare. Helt ok.

Las bebidas están calientes incluso despues de 8h! Despues de 2-3h casi como lo has preparado. Es diseño muy durable. la única desventaja: un poco dificil limpiar la parte donde se bebe.

I've been a coffee drinker for many years, and although it's easy enough to make at home, finding that perfect travel mug to take my coffee with me has always proved challenging. All I can say is that I *wish* I had a Zojirushi travel mug during my four years of university. :::PROS::: - Easy to clean: I cannot emphasize enough what a relief it is to have an easy-to-clean travel mug. I've owned several Contigo mugs in the past, but since you cannot disassemble the lid, cleaning the mug is an absolute nightmare. You would need a tiny little brush and lots of patience to get leftover, grimy cream out of the lid. I would sometimes soak the lid overnight in soap and baking soda to get the grime and smell out but with limited success. With the Zojirushi, the lid completely comes apart which makes it very easy to clean. - Matte black finish: The mug looks sleek and feels very nice to hold onto. While other mugs are shiny and slippery when wet, the matte finish on the Zojirushi gives you a good grip and makes it aesthetically pleasing to look at. - Keeps your drink hot for longer: Similar travel mugs also keep your coffee hot for a long time, but the Zojirushi performs exceptionally well. By the time my coffee would have normally been cold/room temperature, it tastes like its hot out of the percolator over an hour later. - Pours nicely: The plastic, removable spout on the inside of the cap is very pleasant to pour. It rests nicely on your lower lip, and you always get a nice, even pour that doesn't feel like you're drinking out of a funnel. :::CONS::: - The price: This mug is very expensive. At almost $40, the Zojirushi is 2 to 4x more expensive than its competitors (but rightfully so in my opinion). I have owned several Contigo mugs in the past, all of which I've given away after being frustrated with cleaning them. I do not see myself replacing this mug any time soon, and I'm sure serious coffee drinkers would agree. - The open button is awkwardly positioned: The opening mechanism that you compress to pop the lid can feel like its in the way when you're drinking. The button will rest between your mouth and chin, while your lip will rest between the button and spout. This can feel a little uncomfortable at first, but if you can get used to it, its still a great quality mug. :::OVERALL::: Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to the Zojirushi. This mug is very expensive compared to its competitors, but you likely won't be replacing it as you would with other brands. The quality construction of this mug, in addition to its easy to pour and clean features, ranks it higher than any mug I've used in the past. If you frequently take coffee with you on the go to work or school, I would highly recommend paying a bit more for a Zojirushi mug.
