Strong Fragrance Smell
It is cute but it came smelling like strong detergent fragrance. Tried to air it out for over a month and still stunk. Actually made me feel nauseous whenever I smelled it.

Zipper broke
The zippers on these backpacks are very poor quality. Broke after a very short time with careful use. The backpack is very cute and I appreciate that the company strives to offer a 'non-toxic' backpack, but I would not purchase again.

Excellent choice!
My 6 year old loves this backpack, and honestly, so do I. It's really well made, and easy to keep clean. The bright color is fun, and a good safety feature. And, the star seems to be reflective! Yay!

Updated 11/13/13I am editing my review - I contacted Milkdot and they said that the bagpack I purchased was basically an early model from an unauthorized retailer. Because of that they they offered me half off a new bag, a free lunchbag (I'd had problems with that item as well) and free shipping. I am happy to report that the new bag has held up extremely well - it looks basically brand-new still and is much better made. I also appreciate the company standing behind their products and I will shop there again.----I purchased this along with a matching Milkdot lunch bag for my 6-year-old daughter. After less than two months of light/normal use, they are falling apart. Both have lost zippers/zipper pulls and look pretty shoddy. I'm really disappointed as these were not cheap. I've purchased other similar items from other companies that still look brand new after a year so I know it's not a mishandling problem.

superb quality and excellent customer service
we have had this backpack (in orange) for 2 years. it is the best backpack i have ever purchased (and this is boy number 5). the quality of stitching is amazing. its very roomy and has 2 zippers instead of one (i hate backpacks with only one zipper..i like opening from teh top with the entire inside visible. i had one issue where the cloth tag feel off. it wasn't a matter of function, simply asthetics....customer service was awesome and replaced the ENTIRE backpack (i only wanted them to replace the small tag).a great quality product with excellent customer service are two requirements (minimum) for me to leave a review.this review is long in coming. i expect this will last my son through elementary school. we also have the lunch box and it is as good as the backpack.

Zipper issue
I have purchased 5 of older version of this backpack for my kids, and one of them had the zipper issue. I still purchased this new version because I really like the design. Two weeks after my son started using, one zipper broke. One month after, the other zipper broke. I contacted the company and they agreed to replace it but were rude. I don't think I will buy this anymore.
