Nice!
I like this. It looks nice even after it comes out of the dishwasher and it doesn't scratch my pans. Pretty too, I think. Cuts into meat well. It's more expensive than what I normally would pay but it will last longer and for sure.

Epicurean Spoon - meet Calphalon Stockpot...
I’m not a big wooden spoon lover as they never seem to look clean and those with a round thin dowel handle doesn’t feel good in the hand. This one however has changed my mind. I’m not sure if it’s wood as it’s not grainy or overly porous but may have some other composite material that makes it super smooth.I just discovered Calphalon cookware and even though it’s hard anodized, it still scratches with metal utensils. This Spoon is so perfect, especially if you’re cooking in a deeper pan or dutch oven where it’s nice to have a longer handle. Maybe it’s because I have a larger hand, but the wider handle feels good, nearly the same width as a skinny paint stirrer. It cleans well because it’s not porous and came out of the dishwasher lookin brand new. Fits nicely into a crowded utensil drawer also because of its low profile. At first I thought it was very expensive. But after using it, I’m sold and am now looking into other products by Epicurean. Great Spoon!

I feel like I'm going to be passing this spoon on to my grandchildren
I actually really like this! It seems super durable! I've run it through the dishwasher a few times now and it held up just fine. It did NOT scratch my ceramic pots. The fact that it's flat is actually super convenient. This makes it a lot easier to rest on the edge of a pot or pan while cooking. It's also a lot nicer to store. I have relatively limited storage so, it's nice that its slim and doesn't move around in a drawer. It also definitely doesn't seem to retain water the way wooden spoons do and dries much quicker. If I'm being knit-picky , I wish the handle was a little bit more narrow because I have smaller hands so, the width combined with the fact that it's flat makes it a little awkward to hold. Its really not too bad though. Also, It looks more like mdf than a grained wood. Overall, I really like it and the fact is way made in the US is a cool little bonus.

ride the wood wave
seems wood is making a comeback!there is many options, why wood?it does not scratch delicate surfaces...pans are expensive, spoons are not.it is an excellent insulator...it does not have have plastic chemicals when mixing hot or acidic foods...this is not traditional wood, its a wood product, which IMO will make this more durable...wood and water, dont mix, so they will wear, specially from dishwasher...this will last..my only issue is, the spoon does not hold enough, needs to be deeper, otherwise, I will start buying these utensils vs. the plastic and silicone versions...

A Big Flat Epicurean Paddle
I liked Epicurean cutting boards and own several. The Epicurean material is very high quality, attractive, and durable. This spoon is made of the same material. So that aspect is great and it is dishwasher safe. I found it slightly big and heavy. But mostly disappointed that it is so flat. It seems like someone took a piece of flat board, cut out a spoon shape, and created a shallow groove as the "spoon" part. It's more like a paddle than anything and great for stirring a big deep pot. Not great for anything delicate or spooning much content since it's so shallow.

Smells weird?
First of all this is not real "wood" it's actually made from wood fibers or something like that. When I took it out of the package I noticed a strange smell. I swear on my life it smells like a horse stable. Ok? No kidding! Anyway, I washed it and was afraid to smell it afterwards. So when I used it I noticed it just didn't have a good hand feel. The spoon is just too long, it's almost 1-2 inches longer than my other wood spoons, and it's just slightly too large of a handle width wise. Not my favorite spoon but it seems sturdy and served it's purpose.
