Sun Joe MJ-HVR12E 10-Amp 11-Inch Electric Hover Mower

After having this “mower” for a little over a month I feel it’s time for an in-depth honest review.Yes, it does cut grass but not as smoothly as demonstrated. This mower is perfect for yard owners who have pristine level yards with grass that does not grow above 2”. If you do not have any pets this is the mower for you.Now for the rest of us common folks…. save your money. If your yard has divots, dog trails or is uneven in any manner, buy a mower with adjustable wheel heights. This one is difficult to push around and will tip over when the edge gets caught on something. Also the blades are a bit of a pain to be changing out or turning over every three or four cuts.Trust me to honestly say I am not a fan of messing with a mower that requires gas. I would prefer to go with one that has a more traditional design and a large capacity battery with a spare ready to go at a moments notice.

I was thinking of getting a cheap reel mower for the first couple mowes of my new back lawn. I could have just picked it up when I turned so the wheels wouldn’t damage the new grass. I decided to give this one a try. Fresh off the Mail truck, easy assembly, no tools required. Nice and light, can easily be carried and hung up in the shed. Seems a little under powered. Doesn’t lift the grass blades so I had to go back and forth over the same area like vacuuming. Didn’t blow my pete moss around on my two week old Tall Fescue. This may be what I need in the corner of my front lawn. I have a fence with a curve and the ground slopes into it. Very difficult to mow with a push mower. This might do the trick.

Bought as gift for my daughter, she stated it was easy to use and lightweight. However, we did not receive the 30 extra blades, as stated in description. My daughter called about blades, and was told she has to pay for them. So seller, what can you do to correct this?

I needed a weed eater like device for around new shrubs. Anyone knows a weed eater will just break a small tree/ bush etc in half. Also will get caught in high grass and literally pull the weed eater out of your control. This machine is awesome for getting around my small shrubs canopy and not chopping the trunks into mush. It will glide a LITTLE over cement but takes a little bit of muscle to glide in grass. My shoulders were soar a little. BUT , it is FAR easier than fighting with a heavy gas powered weed eater. Loving it so far.

The package arrived quickly and assembled easily. They included extra blades. The price is great.Flymo makes an excellent hover mower, battery or plug-in, but you can't buy them in the US. Here you can purchase hover mowers, but they cost $1200 and are gas powered. I was excited to see Sun Joe make a model as affordable as the tiniest Flymo.Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough power to lift off the ground. On pavement it lifts just enough to reduce friction from the pavement, but still lightly scrapes. When mowing the grass, the deck rides on the ground. Unlike the Flymo, the cutting height is not adjustable, so it scalped the grass. It also would not cut grass taller than 6".It is a wonderful idea, but simply didn't work out.

I would give this product 5 stars if I had gotten everything. Amazon’s description says, “ including 30 replaceable blades”.When the product came, there were no replaceable blades. Manual says not to call Amazon, to call the company. Did that, spoke to a nice young man who said he was sending said blades. Got the envelope from Sun Joe today - ONLY 12! That’s my only gripe! It works well and is lightweight!

It is very hard to use. perhaps i should try on more level and smooth place. hard to get to move. I will keep trying to learn how to use it. But for now pretty useless and one step from the trash can, I would not buy another even for $10, I have 3 year deal. but unless it works better in my more smooth front yard. It is gone!

I wanted to love this mower. It is so great to see a new and clever approach. If your lawn already looks like a golf course green, it is probably fine. The execution is poor, and I think the blower is only half as strong as it needs to be. Also, the product description is misleading as there is no height adjustment. It is advertised to offer two depths. (Most mowers have 4-7, but two would have been enough.) The manual even has a bullet recommending the 2nd setting for taller weeds or more uneven ground. I called Sun Joe customer service, but the agent refused to admit the missing feature. It felt very dishonest that he couldn’t admit the mistake.
