Why the berries and rosemary and thyme?

I don't know either, as Cats are obligate Carnivores, I find this a lot in Premium Meat based kibble for cats. As far as I can see from the packet information, fruits and herbs are supposedly added for extra antioxidants and nutrients, but I'm not sure the cat actually needs this, although cats do eat tender grass for extra nutrients, missing from heavily prepared pet foods, as well as course grass to help induce vomiting for hairball removal, and transit through the guy, a natural bowel cleanser if you like. it may still be a case of appealing to the pet parents, more than the cat, the idea of fruit and herbs added ? ALSO the meat in modern pet foods tends to be of poor quality, even if you are paying top prices, and they have to add other ingredients, such as fruit and herbs, to try to fill the gaps to achieve a balanced diet. Overall I would always advocate for a fresh meat diet for both cats and dogs, but it can be messy and time consuming and expensive for some people, also some kittens are weaned onto kibble, Fromm the breeder, so they won't eat anything else, basically whatever the kitten is weaned on after mother's milk has dried up, tends to be the only food they will eat, in the future, so if you have to feed kibble, to your puss, or pooch for that matter, then at least look for high percentage of human quality meat, no grains at all, it's not needed, it's just used as bulking and binding agents in production, added fruits and herbs, could be beneficial, particularly for dogs, and at least do not harm to cats. I wish more pet owners would study animal nutrition more, to help with a happy long lived cat and dogs, but with so many people sold on the heavy advertising and the convenience of pet kibble, overall I find this brand palatable for cats and fairly well made for the price. Is the meat used in this product human grade? Citing Fediaf regulations is irrelevant as they allow non-human grade meat to be used.

If we answer yes to the question it would be wrong and if we answer no to this question then it would also be wrong. That is because the claim ‘human grade’ should not exist in pet food. Pet foods are manufactured in a pet food facility; to meet the 'human grade' claim, legally a food must be manufactured in a human food facility (which would not be allowed to make pet food), so any brand that claims that their product is human grade is misleading. However, all the meat used in our products comes from 'human grade' animals reared for human consumption, as should be the case with all UK and EU-manufactured pet foods. This means we could claim "made from human-grade ingredients", but so could pretty much all pet foods made in the EU/UK. As a claim it does not mean that the ingredients are necessarily good (or bad) quality. At Pooch & Mutt we use the best quality and most nutritious ingredients; many of these are the ingredients overlooked by humans. For example, from a chicken the breast and legs will go to the supermarket shelves for humans, more nutrient-dense parts of the chicken such as livers and kidneys are not so popular with humans, so we use these in our food. This is also the most environmentally friendly approach to making pet food, proven to be more environmentally friendly than both vegan and insect pet foods.
