Great Serum! My Skin feels Softer & More Even
I started using this retinol serum a few months ago and I’m really happy with how gentle it feels on my skin. It’s super lightweight and absorbs fast, there is no heavy or greasy feel, which makes it easy to layer under moisturizer and sunscreen. What’s surprised me the most is how my skin tone seems more even and those annoying redness in my face is slowly fading. My skin also feels smoother and softer, and makeup glides on so much nicer now. I appreciate that it’s fragrance‑free and doesn’t clog my pores and a big plus for my sensitive, acne‑prone skin. If you want a serum that helps even out texture, fade marks, and doesn’t feel harsh, this one’s a great pick in my book. Totally worth the price!

Works right away UPDATE!
Updated review: People of EVERY age need this product! I've officially been using it for three months, and not only did it literally erase the freckles off of my face, but I no longer have the deep 11 lines between my eyes anymore. Not to mention that when I started using this product, I had terrible breakouts of acne in my T-zone due to hormonal changes related to peri-menopause and for at least the last month, I have not had a single pimple or blackhead anywhere on my face despite having made no changes to my diet, activity level, medications, etc. Acne was the reason I started using it, but getting rid of wrinkles is an absolutely acceptable side effect! All that said, I did have a long purge period (about 6 weeks), where I had to use blotting papers every couple of hours due to shine, and my breakouts were worse in the first couple of weeks of use. When I first reviewed it, the breakouts hadn't started yet. I didn't know what I was in for. I would wager it's not suitable to those who are sensitive to retinol. But, if you're willing to tough it out, you WILL be rewarded with smooth, acne-free, less wrinkled, even-toned skin. While it is heavy duty stuff, the formulation is not painful and does not burn or aggravate on contact. It's actually kinda silky. It isn't sticky or oily at all, and soaks in fairly quickly. I would highly suggest an oil-free moisturizer though, because as I said, the purging of oils is fairly extreme, but you need to moisturize or you'll have dry spots/textured areas and redness. I would also suggest washing your face twice a day - when you wake up and before bed. Also, try to avoid getting it in the under eye area, because it's probably too harsh for that area (though I have accidently got it there and nothing happened, but the skin in that area is likely too sensitive for something this strong being frequently applied). No exaggeration, the skin on my face is so smooth that after my routine, I have to use setting powder on my forehead because it is SO shiny! It's not oil, though; it's just that smooth. I also no longer have freckles on my face. If you can handle acne issues getting worse before they get better and you stick with it, you won't be sorry. My skin looks better than it has since before puberty, and I'm almost 42. This serum is definitely under-rated considering its price and effectiveness. Everyone needs to know about this stuff!! Don't forget the foaming acne face wash, and I would also recommend a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment for those early weeks, but definitely not absolutely necessary, because I no longer need one. It will eventually improve just by using this product. Unless you already have perfect skin, you definitely need this serum! Original review: I paired this with the Cerave foaming acne cleanser. I have very oily skin - especially since peri-menopause has kicked in, and just washing my face twice daily isn't enough to keep it smooth and clean...until now. These two products used together are my new twice daily ritual. I could probably even get away with just using them once a day, and may do that if they become drying or irritating, but so far, after three days, this has been the perfect combination for my face. Now, if I can only find an under eye serum, my entire facial routine will be all set. lol

BEST KEPT SECRET
Best kept secret! Excellent product, consistency and feel. Totally unexpected at this price point! Bought 2 in November for my daughter and I, couple of weeks later gave mine to my teenage son for his acne spots and just ordered 2 more tubes. LOVE IT. I may need to transition to Tret eventually, but this is a great warm up. I could feel results after 2 days...and overnight visual improvement of acne.

A retinol for sensitive skin
If your skin is too sensitive for retinol you should try this. Apparently jumping right in using a retinol cream every night was a bad idea. My skin rebelled and I screwed up the moisture barrier. So I put that cream aside, rebalanced my skin by being extra gentle and tried this serum. 1 my skin is sensitive, 2 my skin is normally on the drier side. 3 I occasionally get pimples along my jaw line during my period. When I was half way through this bottle I noticed my pores looked more clear and less clogged which gave them the appearance of being smaller, which they don't get smaller just less noticable. I suffer from massively clogged pores specifically on my nose. They always looked dirty. They were less so now. I didn't experience any dryness or irritation. If you do I suggest using a hyaluronic acid serum before this one and giving it time to soak in. I've done that here and there on drier skin days. By the end of the bottle I noticed some unevenness in skin texture was smoothing out and darker scars from acne were ever so slightly lightening up. I have a bad habit of not giving products enough time to work and moving on bc I want instant results, yeah not smart. Because this is a much gentler form of retinol it will take longer to see full results but I've already started using my second bottle and that wonderful horizontal worry line on my forehead is ever so slowly becoming less noticable. Bc of how sensitive my skin is I was afraid I would never be able to use a retinol product bc I've tried many with disastrous results even when I used them once or twice a week. CeraVe knows how to take care of skin, they know how to create products that work effectively for all skin types without damaging your skin in the process. You just need to figure out what YOUR skin needs and check out their line of products. I didn't notice any particular scent but as far as I know they do not add fragrance to any of their products which I appreciate bc my skin does not like fragrance even if my nose does. When I run out of this product I will be repurchasing and I use this in conjunction with the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night cream or the original CeraVe moisturizing cream at night if my skin is particularly dry. My skin, at 33 looks better now than 5 years ago bc I'm making an effort to take care of it. I wish I had back as a teenager but maybe anybody reading this will think about taking care of it better bc it's never too late to start. Last thing, I always wear a sunscreen during the day. I'm not a foundation fan but I love the CeraVe tinted sunscreen. It offers the right tint to even out my complexion while still protecting. It's on the moisturizing side so give it a few minutes to soak in or use a little setting powder and your good to go. Also, the tinted sunscreen is not great for darker skin people, I'm pretty pale, so if CeraVe could expand that line to include a larger range of skin tones that would be so helpful.

One of the best budget-friendly retinol serums I’ve added to my routine! What I LIKE about it: 1) SMOOTHER, MORE EVEN SKIN — Within a couple of weeks, I noticed a visible improvement in texture. Little bumps looked flatter, post-acne marks started to fade, and the overall tone looked more refined. Nothing dramatic overnight, but the consistency pays off. 2) GENTLE BUT EFFECTIVE RETINOL — This is an encapsulated retinol formula, which basically means it delivers the active slowly and more gently. Great if you’ve reacted to stronger retinoids before. I get zero burning or peeling, just steady, controlled exfoliation. 3) NIACINAMIDE BOOST — I love that they paired retinol with niacinamide. It helps brighten, calm redness, and support the skin barrier at the same time. My skin feels more balanced and less “angry” on retinol nights. 4) CERAMIDES FOR REPAIR —Cerave always nails the barrier-supporting ingredients. While some retinols leave me dry around the nose or mouth, this one feels lightweight but still hydrating enough to prevent that tight, flaky feeling. 5) NON-STICKY, FAST-ABSORBING TEXTURE —It sinks in quickly, layers well under moisturiser, and doesn’t ball up under other products. Perfect for a simple night routine without feeling heavy or greasy. Not CONS really, just worth noting: 1) VERY GENTLE FORMULA —Because it’s mild, results are steady rather than fast. Great for beginners, sensitive skin, or anyone wanting maintenance, but if you’re used to stronger retinoids, you’ll need patience or it may feel too subtle. 2) CAN FEEL A LITTLE DRYING AT FIRST —This depends on your barrier. I had a tiny bit of dryness around week one, but it settled quickly with a good moisturiser. Overall: A fantastic entry-level retinol for smoothing texture, fading marks, and keeping the skin bright and clear without irritation. It’s reliable, affordable, and easy to slot into an existing routine. Perfect for those wanting consistent results without the drama of stronger formulas. I hope you found this review HELPFUL. Makes reviewing worthwhile. Thank you!
