Really excited to be the first to review this advent calendar because we love it! We were hesitant to spend so much on it at first but after reviewing dozens of others we decided we liked this one the most. Then, after receiving it, we quickly realized how much time, thought and effort went into making this and we are glad we purchased it.The calendar arrived quickly and in a nice box that appears to be undamaged. The doors were a little stiff to open the first time but after that they seemed easy enough. The doors also have little light bulbs for door knobs that give the tree a bit of a 3D effect, which kind of neat. One of the more promising aspects of this tree is that the images on the front were a lot like the image in the ad. They are very vibrant and colorful. We really enjoyed that. The depths of the compartments are surprisingly deep and we will have no trouble storing treasures in them. They appear to be much larger than other advent calendar compartments but this is our first so we don't really know for sure.There is a message on the back of the box that refers to this tree as an heirloom classic. We couldn't agree more. We plan to pass this advent calendar down to our Daughter one day and expect to have many years of fun with it.Overall, we are very happy with this beautiful tree and may purchase more of them as gifts. Size colors and quick delivery.

I am sorry to be the first "less than 5 star" review. This tree is absolutely gorgeous and seems well made. The doors appear to be on sturdy metal hinges. I love that the doors are different sizes and open different ways. Lovely!It arrived damaged in several places. Smooshed along one side, cracked at the bottom. The printed overlay had lifted away from the wood, and there are several little holes all around. The shipping box and packaging was perfect, so the damage must have been prior to packing.I have been looking for a new/different style calendar for a couple of years. My daughter was thrilled when this arrived yesterday. But it needs to spend some time in Santa's Workshop before making its debut on the mantle.

I got this to give to my grandson. Lady year I got him a little advent calendar with toys and he loved it. This year I didn’t like any I saw and then found this. It’s perfect. The picture shows one of the smaller openings and one of the larger ones. The smaller one fit a matchbox type car. The larger one has three small toys. The compartments are deep so you can fit a lot in. I plan to deliver this at Thanksgiving and take it back at Christmas to refill next year. This year because he is 2, I will put a toy in each section (I only put three for the photo) in future years I will put other things, maybe candy, notes, money or gift cards fit the teen years. It can easily hold multiple items in each section for siblings. I am hoping it becomes a cherished tradition. I love that I can tailor it to his age and interests. It’s well made, and sturdy.

This year I decided to give my two kids Advent Calendars filled with candy. I purchased two of these wood tree calendars and am very pleased. The Christmas Tree scene on the front is bright, colorful, cheerful and perfectly Christmas-y.Best of all, the compartments are roomy. Not big enough for every Christmas ornament, but big enough to fit three snack-size Snickers bars, as I show in my photo (pardon the photo’s blurriness). One advantage of this calendar is that you access each compartment via a door. When a drawer is used, the space available to fill is necessarily smaller than with a door, because the sides and back of the drawer itself take up space.As a matter of fact, these compartments are so large that I may have to rethink what I put in some of the compartments. Do they really need three candy bars a day?!I’ve purchased two patterns of wood Advent Calendars from Vermont Christmas Company, and they are both delightful.Happy Reader

It was the perfect gift for our granddaughter. She loved it so much. It's a gift of a lifetime. She said she'll be able to use it and share it with her children.

This is one of the better calendars, if you want spacious boxes. The images are pretty if a bit odd--like the snowflake on top of the tree instead of a star, and the fruit bowl, and Santa driving a train instead of a sleigh.There are little sharp holes along the sides, because the nails holding the back on poked through, and no one fixed that. One of the door hinges is broken and the door is pushed in--as others have mentioned.It is not worth $80. Maybe it is worth $45. Perhaps the $90 one on offer in the same style by another company is better, but there are complaints about that workmanship as well. This was well packed so the problems are in manufacturing. I will probably return it and hope to find something better next year.

Bought as a gift - it has been well received. Certainly attractive; large and appropriately heavy. The slots are large, leaving space for several candies or other items. Several of the doors are slightly too large, however, and therefore difficult to open. Two of the doors had a broken "hinge" upon arrival (actually the very soft wood was simply broken in those corners). Largely pleased with the purchase, due to the appearance, but a bit more attention to the structural detail would have produced a real winner - consistent with the generous cost of the item.
