Mute works well. I did break my bridge putting it on but probably just need more practice with it. It mutes sound about 25%. Also this one you can leave on the bottom of the strings all of the time and then attach it when needed so that is nice. For home practicing I really love the eboot rubber practice mute which mutes about 50% and doesn't put any pressure on the bridge. This mute is a perfect concert mute.

I bought for my daughter. After I gave to her she said her teacher can order them for $3. Maybe he buys in bulk? So I'm not sure price is good

Product is made from hard rubber. Too hard to be flexible enough to easily place up and over the bridge. After a few uses, I tried to get it on the bridge when my bridge tipped over and I had to take the instrument to a violin shop to have the sound post and bridge reset. Lucky my violin was not damaged by the sudden release of energy on top.... I immediately trashed the mute and bought a better design from the violin shop that day.

I wish I had read all of the other reviews before purchasing. This is way too stiff, and I was super nervous that I was going to break my bridge. It also hardly dampens the sound once I finally got it on. This is a cheap knock off, do not buy!

Needed for high school orchestra. Using on my violin as required for certain songs.

My daughter says it works well. Definitely different sound after put it on.
