may need to be loosened
I initially really liked these ,but on my first use, they stopped opening. I think maybe the spring broke? or maybe they are too tight? but i can't open them without a lot of force. I ended up using my cats nail trimmers to do the trimmimg, and although they got a little green they still work perfectly. i don't know why these stopped within the first 5 minutes of using them but they worked good for those first 5 minutes.Edit: I loosened the nut quite a bit. Good as new. They're pretty awesome, strong and sturdy.

LOVE these pruners
I'm a serious gardener, having a perennial maintenance/woody pruning biz with 10 customers plus I do a lot of volunteer gardening and my own too. I've been using these for two weeks , for hours every day, and I love this pruner. It's light weight, easy to find when I forget where I put them, very sharp, and no parts fall off (like Fiskars little springs ... never again, Fiskars, you've been replaced. I know someone else commented that the lock can set itself and I did experience that but I found that if I held them just a wee bit open when I completed a cut that the problem went away as soon as I used this gentler touch.

Great clippers, but they are sometimes hard to use if my arthritis is acting up. It's a bit harder to close them than I anticipated, but I'm still happy with them most of the time.

They feel good when I first put it into my hand--but they feel to hard not soft and the closing latch keeps closing while I'm using them--I use them for quick jobs!!

Ok but I have small hands and they were difficult for me to use.

It's nice and sharp but really easy to pinch your fingers in between the handle.

Good for Lighter Gardening Work
For light gardening I found these shears to be fine, but I was a bit disappointed in how cheap the plastic handle looked and felt in my hand. If you have gripping issues - like from arthritis in your hand, the light spring action made this pruner easy to use, however it also gives it less force when cutting so it's really best for small woody stems and leaves. There is a soft plastic sleeve over the harder plastic handles to help make the grip softer, but it's very thin and acts more as a protectant than a cushion. The blades came very sharp and it does have a locking mechanism for the handle when the shears are not in use. It seems to be secure when closed, but again, this piece is plastic and I do wonder about it''s longevity. I would probably choose something a bit more sturdy if I was going to be using this as a serious outside gardening tool.
