The Blonde One

lpved this movie
I have just watched this movie and i was total taking with it. As a gay man i assume that most of us have falling for a Bi-sexual man in our lifetime. What was i liked was the emotions that Gabriel (the blonde one) show in his face, longing, desire, love, hurt and confusion like most of Marco Bergers movies they are very slow moving with not much talking and the actor Gaston showed this beautifully. Juan is your typical sexy player with a girlfriend but likes his bit on the side the actor Alfonso played this role very well with a mixture of sex and cockyness. There a few scene that stand out for me personally as i have been through them as i assume most men have, having your first sexually contact with your bi flatmate and after you are finished he does not even say leave just motions with his hands to leave the hurt and confusion on Gabriel face was so spot on my heart broke for him. A other scene is when he finds out that Juan also has an other male lover whom he spend the night with leaving Gabriel alone, but then Juan blames Gabriel for being jealous and to stop acting like his girlfriend. There is genuine love with these two people more on Gabriel side, so when Juan tells him that his girlfriends is pregnant and he has to leave the flat they share, then asked to keep seeing him as his bit on the side, i admit i did cry. So Gabriel go home to his parents to live with them and his daughter from a previous marriage, but when he tell his daughter that Juan was his boyfriend but they had broke up, and her reactions where like who cares i smiled inside. So this film is shot beautifully, the two main actors are very good overall a very good queer movie, i don't want to call it a gay love story as it is about two bi-sexual men.

Low on dialogue and scenery but a film worth watching
Argentinian Spanish with English subtitles. A gay romantic film set in a Buenos Aires suburb (although it could have been set anywhere. Call Me By Your Name’s allure is as much it’s setting as it is the film itself. Whereas the Blond One has no such appeal )). It centres on two men, Juan, a sexually confident bisexual who take a shine to his sexually/socially introverted tenant, and closeted father of one, Gabriel (indeed, his mates nickname him “Dummy”). The storyline/dialogue is limited but the gradual increase in sexual tension between the two leads is compelling and subtly draws you in. Just as the two men begin to live as partners their world is rocked by unexpected news.On first viewing I was slightly underwhelmed but it’s lacking dialogue is compensated with body language. The last father-daughter scene is touching as well. Not as good as Call Me By Your Name or Weekend (for example) but still definitely worth a watch (or two - left a better lasting impression second time round)

made me cry a little
I was captivated by the tension in the relationship. I really understand how this goes, unrequieted love is the most painful but one learns a lot. The film is equal to Plan B, similar theme with a different ending. Marco Berger knows how to create a scene where there is very little dialogue but so much is said. A beautiful movie.

Delivers, in a way lots of gay movies don't
Unlike most gay movies, this one had a storyline that was compelling. There were lots of times when nothing seemed to be happening and they could occasionally become boring, but essentially they were building the sexual tension, the desire and the longing. No happy ending, but that was realistic, given the situation

5/5 amazing complicated LGBT love story
Just like Call Me By Your Name it has all the qualities of a great film: good script, appealing characters, excellent acting, catchy songs and good cinematography. The intimacy in this film feels genuine and not forced. At times you feel an anger towards Juan foe the way he treats Gabriel but by the end you feel sad for both characters as Juan realises how he feels about Gabriel. Great film!!
