Simply Beautiful
There are no perfect words to describe Whitney Houston's voice. This song can only be sung by her---like many of the songs she sang. No one can, or could have sung them better than Whitney. She is missed by me more than any other vocal artist I am familiar with. She was beautiful. She had more effortless, smooth riffs in one note than any other artist I have admired, and she was classy. When she stepped on stage, she was a true lady, and wore every outfit with class and grace--outfits that would not leave a risky impression on your children. This album was the beginning of her incredible rise. And to me, she kept rising on her own journey. I would certainly recommend this album to anyone. But I suspect most people have it or have heard it.

This is "twenty" years old???
It seems just like yesterday that I got this on audio tape and listened to it constantly because, at 11 years old, I was amazed at the clarity and range of Whitney's voice.After having bought Houston's sophomore album again (this time around on CD), I'm still amazed at her voice and the fact that, unlike the current sorry crop of so-called "singers" who are force-fed down the public's throats, she didn't need her voice dubbed over three, four, and five times. She could carry a tune ... and then some over these overrated folks today!I can dig the complaints from hard-core Whitney Houston fans that this album reeks 80s cheese (then again, the 1980s, as a whole, were cheese). I can agree that it's very pop, but she did pick out tunes with soulful overtones here such as "Just the Lonely Talking Again." But if this is compared to her self-titled debut, "Whitney" isn't even a blip on the radar.I was introduced to this album via MTV's playing of "So Emotional." From there, I got the tape and came to love the entirety of the album, appreciating Whitney's voice more with each song. From there, I went on to her debut and was knocked out even more.But whether it's soul, R&B, or straight pop, Whitney's voice is powerful and she can draw you into whatever subject she's wailing about. I'll never forget the comparisons between Whitney and Mariah Carey when the latter first appeared on the pop music scene in 1990. Take Carey's ultra-high note out of the equation, and it's a great match-up between these two.One thing that has been hurtful to watch over the years has been Whitney's decline in full view of the public. She spent many years on an obviously unproductive relationship (I have nothing against Bobby Brown, but facts are facts), thereby relegating herself to the limelight and even becoming somewhat of a laughingstock.I hope she's on the right track again now and I really hope to see her make a comeback because seeing a talent like hers wasted goes way beyond being a shame. - Donna Di Giacomo

I bought it just for one gorgeous song but I did not like any of the other songs- i knew I wouldn’t
I love only one song on it and that’s why I brought it but the rest of the songs gave me a headache as much as I loved Whitney Houston but just knock some of these other songs sorry. I will keep it though it’s worth the three bucks to hear the ONE beautiful song. Way too noisy a CD for me.

Classic and Timeless
Whitney and her voice speak for themselves. This was my very first cassette tape and I have always loved it.

Her best cd @}->---
This is when Whitney was on top. She was pretty unstoppable then; her music was beautiful and her personal life was a bit more normal. I do not think there is a bad song on here. My all time favourite Whitney song is here - Didn't We Almost Have It All. It's such an amazing and powerful song - it truly brings out the best in her vocals. The other great songs are So Emotional, You're Still My Man and Where Do Broken Hearts Go?.For her sake, I really wish she could get back to this level of standard again. She is so talented and it's such a shame that things aren't as good as they could be for her. If she could sing and have music like this again and be back on top of her game, she'd give Mariah more of a run for their money.Fantastic cd - you must own it.

I love it!
I've heard about a hundred arguments for why this album shouldn't be good, including attacks on the dated 80's production style and cheesy song selection. All I have to say is WHATEVER! I LOVE this album! I've had it in my collection since it first came out and I think this one gets better over time. Sure, I hit a period of self-importance when I looked at this album with disdain and said, "Geez, I can't believe I used to listen to that!" But that was my fault, not the album's fault. To be fair , "Love Is A Contact Sport" is pretty damn corny. But in context of the album as a whole I think it works. And a lot of these songs just blow me away... "Just The Lonely Talking Again", "Where You Are", "You're Still My Man", "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" are all beautiful, classic tracks. And Whitney's version of the Isley Brothers "For The Love Of You" is tantalizing, beckoningly gorgeous. Her backing vocals on that track are sublime, and I love the arrangement. The closing track with Mom is very touching too. The hits are great but I'm sure we've all heard them a million times. For me it's all about the album tracks, and these are fantastic. The original lp vinyl sounds great and I would recommend hearing it that way.

It's Whitney at her best. Nuff said
It's Whitney at her best. Nuff said. BUT, hidden gem is the duet with her mother on I Know Him So Well. If you've never experienced Cissy Houston, you are in for a real treat!

Very good album
Nothing to be said about Whitney. The item itself was in a good condition considering it was sold as second hand. Pleased with it.

Not her best songs!
I didn't really like some of the fillers in amongst her more memorable numbers. Don't bother with this version, get a greatest hits without the not so great fillers.
