Works well but pack a lunch!
UPDATE 3/20/19 About an hour later... I just got off the phone with Nancy at the Polarmade company. I called the 800 number listed on the company website and I was pleasantly surprised that not only did someone answer, she did not transfer me to someone else. I explained that the pole had broken during use, and without a single inference of negligence or attempt to shirk the company responsibility, she arranged to a replacement section of handle to be sent to me, FREE OF CHARGE! I've added back the fifth star to my review to reflect the EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE this company provides. They stand behind their product, and I'm a raving fan.UPDATE 3/20/19 While using the full 30' handle (6 x 5-foot sections) that came with the Snowpeeler Premium I had a large slab of snow slide down the handle, causing one of the junctions to snap near the middle of the entire length. The photo is the clean break at what must be assumed to be the weak link in the system. The aluminum handle sections are mechanically tapered to slide into one another, making for a quick and simple assembly. Unfortunately, this mechanical squeezing weakens the metal at the junction, which is where the break occurred. While I still recommend the product as a far safer means of snow removal than shoveling from the roof itself, it seems that the weight of the snow being removed must be taken into consideration. I've removed one star from my prior 5-star review for this failure. I'll be reaching out to the manufacturer to see if they will replace the damaged handle section as a warranty issue. I'll update this review with that outcome.ORIGINAL REVIEW 3/12/19: The quality of the tool is top notch. Assembly took 15 min with my adjustable wrench and the included hex wrenches in the box. All the parts fit well, and the machining is very clean. The instructions are somewhat vague, as they require you to match parts to the instruction guide diagram only. There is no written assembly instructions or tips. I did find a good video online that explained everything very clearly. I recommend you visit the web BEFORE assembly. It helps. As for function, the tool does NOT save effort. It saves time and probably injury. By working fro the ground you stay safely standing whereas shoveling on the roof would be treacherous to say the least. The tool with 25’ of handle in use can be unwieldy and the weight, while not too bad initially, does wear you out. I worked for about an hour on 36-48” of rooftop snow that is 3 months old and the cutting head did its job. At times the head would hang up on an icy section and the handle would flex downward bashing into my gutter. No damage was done but be warned that the tool is probably best suited for fresher snow than I have. All said, I have no regrets with this purchase and recommend the tool and maker.

Clear your roof more efficient with less effort
So id like to start off by saying we started with an avalanche though lighter it was extremely flimsy we had a love hate relationship but after spending a bit of time we learned the technique to using these types of snow removers so we did our research and found that the snow peeler seemed like the best replacement option after bending our avalanche. Got it delivered yesterday had extremely wet heavy snow roughly 18 inches on our shed so we decided it was the perfect place to try it out and see if the quality was better. It cuts better its heavy duty which means it is a bit heavier to manage but it does an excellent job and makes life so much easier. Snow peeler you have made my husband and I very happy with all this crazy weather we have been getting in Alaska. Probably wont need it much more this year but next year it will be helpfulIf your having issues with it practice your technique because we weren't super sure about them when we started either, its far better then a regular roof rake. The assembly was simple the parts were all there and its pretty straightforward plus the slide bungie makes it awesome if theres a bit of a breeze to keep the slide in place. If you have ice damns i recommend this to get off the majority of the snow then use a standard roof rake to get the couple inches left off because it does leave a bit behind we haven't had any issues with ice dams so we don't worry about the couple inches left behind but if you do it will cut the amount of struggling with a standard roof rake in half as we did it with my parents house and it makes scraping the thin layer off with a regular roof rake so much easier because its no longer as resistant and heavy. Also there is just something oddly satisfying watching the snow blocks fall off the roof it makes my heart so happy.

Works as advertised, mostly.
I recently purchased the snow peeler premium with 30 ft. Extension and 2 tarps. One tarp is weighted and hangs from the head of the peeler, the other has a grommet and is supposed to bungee to the handle. Let me begin by saying that there were no holes in any of the handle extensions for the bungee to connect to. This was easily remedied by drilling a hole in one of the extensions. The tarp that bungees to the handle works much better . The weighted tarp tends to bunch up at the head if there is a lot of depth of snow you are removing. There is also no grip on any of the extensions. I fixed this by buying a roll of rubberized shelf liner and using spray adhesive to make a grip on one of the extensions. Overall it seems to be well made , and assembly was easy . I have used it twice and it does remove snow as advertised, it's about twice as fast as using a standard snow roof rake. Make no mistake though, it is not effortless. When using all the extensions, you have to hold the poles above your shoulder to reach the top of the roof. Overall I think this product is worth the money spent, as I will get a lot of use from it living in a snow belt area.
