Ideally, the kit comes with everything you need to brew an excellent Belgian dubbel ale. I know the ale is good because this instance is my second brewing of this kit. However, this time I received an incomplete kit. The box arrived open and someone had pilfered the two hops packets. I contacted the vendor and they shipped me replacement packets but the experience set me back a week. Otherwise, all went well. I will advise that the wort to this ale tends to foam considerably during the boil so have your boilover gear ready. I boil outdoors but I give fair warning to those who boil indoors and want to avoid a mess.

This is the second Craft-a-Brew kit I have ordered. The first was the American Pale Ale - it was great and the ingredients appeared to be fresh. The second kit is a Belgian Abbey Dubbel that just arrived. The yeast was one month past the expired date and one bag of hops was matted together. Customer service responded that the yeast would still be good so I have taken their word for it and started the brew. The yeast appears to be doing its thing so hopefully it will not be an issue. I started brewing my own beer because I can never find interesting beer in stores that is not well past the expire date. Am always told by the people working at the liquor store that expired beer is still good to drink - not the point as the taste is severely diminished. Now, I am brewing a beer with ingredients that may not be fresh and have to wait 6 weeks to find out. Frustrated but hopeful. I will end by saying that the kits from Craft-a-Brew are excellent in all other respects - hopefully this kit was an anomaly. Update: The beer turned out great despite the expired yeast! Upgraded to 4 stars - would be 5 were it not for yeast. I will also add that their customer service was very responsive to my concerns and had sent me some fresh yeast that arrived too late for my brew.

Tastes great kinda between a beer and wine taste. Very different.

Good quality product. Not sure why 1 gallon kits come with sanitizer but 5 gallon don't? But these kits are easy to brew. They have easy to follow directions. They are also priced well.

Directions & ingredients were top notch. Still awaiting the finished product but all is well through the bottling step.

Great kit for those serving overseas as it’s all dry malt extract so no risk of anything exploding during shipment! Overall a great home brew kit!

I gifted this to my boyfriend and it works so well! You don't have to ask them any questions because the set comes with everything you need to brew as long as they have the equipment to brew with. Comes with everything you need and is easy to wrap!
