Excellent value for the money
Excellent value for the money. It is an excellent supplement to the series written by William A. Medcalf, published by Ian Allan Publishing. The decals provided in 1/32, 1/48, & 1/72 scales are excellent. Stand-alone this publication is perfect for the modeller. The plans are separate so that the modeller can copy them for the other scales.

This is a new book, not a reprint
This is the 59th book in Kagero's long running "Monographs" series. It is volume II in a sub series devoted to the Ju 88. It is not to be confused with an earlier 3 volumes devoted to the Ju 88 (Monographs 13, 14, and 15) of about 10 years ago. At least some of the photographs have been reused but everything else is new. It is in the standard format of an 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" square bound card cover of 128 pages. The first 68 pages are a service history divided into three sections covering the Phony War period, the Norwegian campaign, and the battle of France. This is largely composed of translations from the memoirs of various Ju 88 pilots and crewman. This is an approach Kagero has taken in the past and makes for an interesting read. Many of these memoirs have never been translated into English so they are especially welcome. There are a number of occasions where there were what I thought were Americanisms used in these anecdotes, like "home plate" and "get the hell out of Dodge". It would be interesting to know whether these expressions came from the Germans or their translators. I'm guessing the latter. The translation was generally quite adequate but the use of "peer" where "pier" was intended throughout the Dunkirk siege was annoying. The rest of the book is devoted to CAD (computer aided design) images of the aircraft. The focus in this volume is on the cockpit interior and modellers hoping to super detail their kits will have a lot to work with. The captions could have been more informative. For a few drawings I was scratching my head trying to figure out what some features were.Since we're only up to mid-1940 there could be many more volumes devoted to the Ju 88. Bring them on; I can't wait.

Fuzzy B&W photos, excellent 1/72, 1/48 scale drawings
I bought this book to see what Kagero had done with aviation books and CAD. I liked their naval books. While not quite as impressive as their book on the Me-262 ( Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe vol. II (Kagero) ), this is recommended for fans of the Ju-88This is a very good choice for modelers - especially those who scratch build or need 1/72, 1/48 scale drawings of the Ju-88. The b&w photos are fuzzy - not the best, but you're really buying the book with an eye for the marking foil, 16 pages of scale drawings and six pages of color plates. Narrative is good, but ½ of the book is written in Polish, so the 80 pages becomes 40 pages in that sense.I also like the bibliography for other sources to check out. While lacking the CAD drawings, the 1/48 and 1/72 scale fold outs are very good, making this a very good choice for modeling.
