The FastDiet Cookbook: 150 Delicious, Calorie-Controlled Meals to Make Your Fasting Days Easy Review: "CALORIE-CONTROLLED RECIPES, HELPFUL KITCHEN TIPS, ADVICE ON HEALTH!" - This informative, inspiring cookbook chronicles how to incorporate this diet into your daily routine, how to prevent the risk of heart disease and other diseases, showing us how easy it is to cut-down on caloric intake. There are 150 simple, easy-to-prepare recipes on a friendly budget, designed for our busy lives. This cookbook is a follow-up of the Fast-Diet, offering several helpful tips on recipes and a more healthy life-style. I have followed the Fast-Diet, and found it very useful, and easy to follow. The recipes include breakfast, lunch, and dinners. There are salads, soup, fish and several recipes to choose from. All recipes are low-calorie, and nutritious. Information is provided on the impact of high-caloric intake in relation to disease as the author highlights the crucial importance of a low-calorie diet on the road to better health in maintaining discipline, and in preventive medicine. As we try new recipes, I will leave updates. We are going to select different salads and soups for starters as many of these recipes are inviting. Interesting, educational, and extremely useful. Highly recommended! Review: GOOD BOOK BUT I RECโD USED COPY:( - The copy I received was used and stained. There is something sticky all over the back cover, and when I opened it, thereโs some kind of stain running down the spine. Itโs as if someone read it while taking a break while eating Chinese food and had an accident because it looks like a few peices of fried rice are stuck to the back cover. Pretty disgusting. Iโm sending it back. Otherwise, I am giving the book 5 stars!! I donโt think itโs fair when people take off points based on factors that really donโt pertain to the product. That being said, I had no problem returning it and received it about 16 hours after I ordered it, so good job desertcart! The book has some good info, good pics, and good recipes. I probably wonโt order it again now that Iโve previewed it, but thatโs only because the recipes have more ingredients than I want to bother with. But thatโs just me, and the book wasnโt advertised as quick or limited-ingredient recipes.

Get your calculator, your pen and your thinking cap on to deal with the errors
Many reviewers forget that they are reviewing the book, not the diet. I agree with other reviewers that some ingredients are too exotic, too expensive, and too hard to get. I agree that breakfast recipes need to be less complicated. But overall the recipes taste good and make Fast days a pleasure. My main criticism is the number of errors. To use this book you will need your wits about you or the recipes won't work or won't achieve what you want. Typoes like 'chile' are obvious, but far less obvious is the '15 strawberries' on page 20 that should say '15 OUNCES of strawberry', and the missed preparation instructions (mushrooms won't cook in "one minute or so" unless they are sliced). I suggest calculating the calories from the ingredient list, putting your thinking cap on, and grabbing a pen to make notes and amendments in the recipes. On the positive side, the cookbook lists recipes by total calories, which helps you get to the right total more easily for your Fast day. As far as the 5:2 IFD goes, one day of fasting for me broke the cycle of addiction to sweet starchy foods. No hunger pangs, no blood sugar crashes, no cravings. This diet seems easy to do, and easy to make a lifelong choice. Maintaining a healthy weight is a major point, but so are all the other health benefits.

Didn't like the food choices
I purchased this book in the summer along with the "the Fast Diet" book. The diet itself is great but I did not enjoy most of the meals provided in this book because many of them are too heavy for the summer and some of the food combinations were too weird for me. Maybe because the diet was created in England some of the meals were peculiar to me but I can say that the recipes were simple and flexible enough for me develop my own food choices and substitutions. The book is well written, visually appealing with plenty of photos, and provides plenty of recipes. It's still worthwhile if only to help you create your own diet.

Excellent guide for interesting small meals.
Having just received the bad news that my blood pressure is high, I set about doing something about it. My Nutritional Healing book from 1990 recommends fasting 3 days a month but is not specific about what that entails. As luck would have it, I found THE FAST DIET COOKBOOK at the library and liked it so much that I just bought it. It gives variety and takes the work out of figuring out calories. It was taking me hours to look up every little thing to fit two healthy meals into 500 calories before I found this book. The yumminess of these tiny meals and the fact that I only have to stick to 500 cal for one day is very motivating for me - a lifelong diet skeptic with low self-control when it comes to food. Yes, some of the ingredients may be hard to find. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and know where I could find fresh Kaffir lime leaves but I'm not willing to drive an hour to get them. So I leave them out. Or use some other herb. My one complaint about this book: it doesn't mention what kind of doctors Dr.Schenker and Dr. Mosley are. They may be medical doctors but it says that she is a nutritionist and he is "medically trained" whatever that means. They may have PhDs but to use Dr. in one's name when writing a book about health falls somewhere between ostentatious and fraudulent unless you specify what sort of doctorate you have.

This is my new cook bible, the recipes are exceptionally tasty, even my husband has commented on several which he has also enjoyed. Some are a bit time consuming the first try but with practise it becomes easier. Great book!!!!

This is a great recipe book and the FastDiet REALLY works. I've tried lots of other diets and never had much success until now. This bok is full of good recipes which are easy to make and don't require lots of random ingredients. The food is tasty and the book is full of info. A really good purchase.

I have tried some of these recipes ,very good, the pictures are beautiful . The diet works . I do the fast diet day once a week and highly recommend it.it is an easy way to maintain, not having to think about calories ,points , but you do have to eat healthy and normal amounts rest of week.plus your system feels, good after a fast day, allowing your organs to rest.

A glossary of culinary terms would be useful for those of us that those of us who 'cook' rather infrequently i.e blanch or wilt. A ring back format would help so that the book can be laid flat and doesn't shut as soon as you let go of it. Preparation time would be helpful in some cases too but overall very helpful to have easy balanced precalculated recipes to try saves a lot of time.

Great recipes. I wish my family ate more fish though, because thereโs lots of great fish recipes.
