OK by todays standards
From todays standards not that much horror, unless the shots of apparent animal cruelty are your thing. But in the day I can see why this shocked the world. And now has been retold in the "Green Inferno" that was just released.

Gross and cool Cannibal flick!
A couple of New York druggie criminals hide out in the South American jungles are in search of emeralds and cocaine. However they ran into three people who are trying to studying the existence of the cannibalism myths in the jungles of the world, they are soon hunted and caught by vicious cannibalistic tribes who want their flesh, only one must survive and get out of the jungle.A sadistic, gory, violent and entertaining Italian cannibal adventure that only the starter of the Italian cannibal genre did by "Deep River Savages" and "Nightmare City" director Umberto Lenzi. It is filled with real animal cruelty, gore galore such as the infamous head slice scene, castration, great make-up effects and a groovy soundtrack, the film isn't as brutal or harsh as Ruggero Deoato's infamous classic cannaibl epic "Cannibal Holocaust" ( 1979) but it's still a good old fashoned bloody fun and gross ( Even if the gore is kinda fake looking) cannibal adventure for fans of hardcore horror and gore alike. The Deluxe DVD has great picture & Sound that also has the original Italian soundtrack with Commentary by John Morghen & Umberto Lenzi, Trailers, Still and Poster Gallery, and a easter egg that shows you the L.A. Re-issue premiere of the Uncensored and Uncut "Cannibal Ferox" (Which this DVD is). Also recommended: "Cannibal Holocaust", "Dawn of the Dead (1978)", "Caligula", " Eaten Alive! ( 1980)", "Jungle Holocaust", "Deep River Savages", " Hell of the Living Dead ( a.k.a. Night of the Zombies)", " Demons", " From Dusk Till Dawn", "Ichi The Killer", "Battle Royale", "Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky", " Natural Born Killers", "Last House on The Left", "Maniac ( 1980)", " City of the Living Dead", "House By The Cemetery", "Mountain of the Cannibal God", " Emmanuel and The Cannibals", " Dead Alive ( a.k.a. Braindead))", " Re-Animator", " Cannibal Apocalypse", " Freddy Vs. Jason", " Zombi Holocaust", " Zombie", " The Beyond", " Blood Feast", " The Gore Gore Girls", " Color Me Blood Red", and "Blood Diner".

Cannibal Holocaust part II
THIS IS A REVIEW OF THE FILM NOT THE DVD.I saw Cannibal Ferox (1981) in 70 mm resolution, and what seemed to be a genuine grindhouse version. I actually, had option to view it with the original U.S. soundtrack or the Italian one. I chose to watch the American version. The film is advertised as the following to or the next Cannibal Holocaust (1980), which gained a cult status and notorious fame. It does not live up to Cannibal Holocaust, but it does a great job at imitating it.Cannibal Ferox shot in New York City and Colombia, it features a group of three NYU students who embark on a trip to the Amazon Rain Forest (in the film it is said that they are in Paraguay) in search of cannibal tribe. Once in the jungle the trio (two women and one guy) run into two other New Yorkers on run the from the cannibals...what follows next one can only imagine. The film contains few authentic scenes of animals killing -other-animals, there is also a scene (just like in Cannibal Holocaust) where a sea turtle gets butchered.

Awesome packaging with a few extra goodies
Nice BR Transfer...Probably best CF will ever look. Still plenty of grain but colors and textures a big upgrade from the dvd. Used to rent this film in the 80s on VHS under the title Make Them Die Slowly.

not bad but not great either
One really good scene in whole movie, but I still liked it, cannibal Holocaust is better but not by much, if you've seen it they are a lot alike

neutered.
Yet again the sanctimonious scissors of the censor swoop in to screw a film to an ignoble death. The tagline on the dvd box reads "the most violent film ever made!"; thanks to censorship that is at best a laughable statement. All the most violent scenes are snipped out of this edition, leaving it tamed and insipid. That isn't to say it's a write off; by the standards of the genre it still has its merits - the acting, shooting and dialogue are all decent, It has a catchy musical score and it has its ham fisted social commentary aspect all present and correct. Its a huge shame - if it wasn't so mangled in the editing room I would probably have loved this film. If you can, pick up an unedited version - I understand some of the American releases are less butchered.

not the best
I cannot understand why this was a video nasty and was banned in 31 countriesI am pleased that I paid under £2 for it (including postage)you have to use your imagination because there is no real gorethe acting was hammy and the music was probably taken from a 70s porn video
