Caster Socket for 7/16" Diameter Grip Ring stem, Welding, 4-Pack

After getting some others that rounded the dimension to metric; it's good to get one that fits.

These were back ordered and I thought "oh, I'll just make some" but that was nuts. I doubt anyone in my area stocks this tubing and the work... . I did ease the edge of these so they'd press in more easily. They're made to be welded not pressed so that makes sense. I have an oak bankers chair and an armless clerk's chair version. The clerks chair had the original wheels which were still working but are small and of hard rubber so they're hard on floors. The banker's chair had replacement wheels. I'd put several sets on it over the years but the ones you can buy are cheaply made and spill their bearings after a year or so. Mine also had the sockets worn into the wood so they'd fall out if the chair was tilted or lifted. PITA. I took their bases off. I inverted them on the floor and used a compound square to measure how high to the feet were. I then put the base in a vise on my drill press and used the square to get the feet level so I'd get a perpendicular hole. I hammered one set of sockets into the drilled holes but that was risky so I used a machinist's vise and hardwood cauls to press the second set in. The wheels I chose are industrial looking but work much better than the originals. I'm happy to have a modern-standard socket on these old chairs.

The media could not be loaded. Are use these in conjunction with other products to make my wheels roll. Perfect. Just buy them they’re superb rockhard great length you can glue them into place like I did. I highly recommend them door and lock tips gives its full support towards this product.

So took quite a while for them to get to us, but they were perfect for what we needed. Hubby had to drill larger holes in our old desk chair, but the new rollerblade style casters are fantastic. These old chairs are so nice, so much better quality than the new stuff! I'm ordering another set of these for converting his dad's old oak desk chair.
