Real Life Story
As other reviewers have given synopsis's I won't. Greg Kinnear turns in another wonderful performance, IMHO, he's really underrated. Leads a good entertaining movie, good enough to watch again sometime, with a mostly feel good ending.I say mostly, because I was irked by his faithless, wife, who didn't stand by him when she was most needed. She made me angry. Those of us few spouses who have made it to 45 or 50 years of marriage know that there have been times, sometimes years, dealing with something of a negative nature from our other half, but that's what you sign up for when you say your vows. (Of course not abuse or infidelity.) But some character flaw that over time can drive you crazy. What the ones who bail never get to, is that working it out makes your bond stronger, and when you come up against things you know won't change, you just gotta laugh! Yep! Can't do a thing with 'em! On top of which, she modeled marital failure for 6 kids. That's just freaking great. So thanks for listening to my rant about what I think was the only flaw in this story. Unfortunately seen all too often.

Great movie, true story
I just love this movie. I love all true stories about honest, decent people who persevere and fight the good fight. Greg Kinnear is the star who plays the man who invented the intermittent windshield wiper for cars. His invention is stolen by one of the big car companies. He fights to the end to maintain that he indeed was the inventor, though it costs him his marriage, and takes basically his entire life to set things straight. He even ends up being his own lawyer. This guy is one of my heroes! It takes him decades to win his case - but win he does - big time - against all odds and all the while turning down substantial bribes from the car company to shut him up. In all of this, his commitment to justice and righteousness, he is an outstanding role model to his children in perseverance and integrity. Watch this movie!

Excellent but...
I wanted to ask Kearns to do a cross-examination of himself after the Ford atty asked him about his memories. If Kearns had fought for himself then he would have easily shown that the state of his mind on the bus had in fact occurred bc of the lies and paper burials trhown at him. I assume the jury took this under consideration. Right up there with Erin Brockovich and the movie Philadelphia. This a more subtle movie with subtle actors but the theme is always the same, the David and Goliath story.I wanted Kearns to cross-examine himself after that bus business. A great David & Golith story tho this fil is far more boring and kisch as times. An even larger mulinational corp Exxon could not stop spilling oil from is Valdez, destroyed thousands of miles of California shoreline, birds, otters. sea life, seahills and more, a huge ecosytem. Exxon had offered 4BILLION earlier and after more time they were found guilty. Meanwhile humans died, many were waiting, hoping something would restore the JUSTICE they so needed and to restore them to their livelihoods, But it was not to be. The UPSHOT; As of December 15, 2009, Exxon had paid the entire $507.5 MILLION in punitive damages, including lawsuit costs, plus interest, which were further distributed to thousands of plaintiffs. And the Upshot: As of December 15, 2009, Exxon had paid the entire $507.5 million in punitive damages, including lawsuit costs, plus interest, which were further distributed to thousands of plaintiffs. Highly recommend.

Real life theft. Real life justice.
While we can grieve over what it cost Dr. Kerns, we can celebrate his commitment to justice! And I love Greg Kinnear!! He is so real and genuine as an actor. You forget who you are watching and he takes the viewer into the personality of the character and into the story. Hooray for him! Another performance where he hit his performance out of the ball park. It was a pleasure to watch him bring Dr. Kerns and his battle against Ford Motor Co. to life and WIN!!! Kinnear won. Kerns won. Justice -- which seems rare when battling corporate money, power, and influence -- even won! Truth and justice just feels great.

Outstanding movie!
This guy spent years fighting the Ford Motor Company who stole his invention of intermittent windshield wipers! His wife left him due to his incessant, rightful, and courageous need to do the right thing! His wife appeared to be a nice woman, but could not endure the stress of his "do the right thing" nature! He had the bravery, tenacity, and endurance to stand up and fight for what is right. He would not settle, even for millions of dollars offered to him to drop the case. He ended up having to defend himself, and did a fantastic job playing a lawyer! This is a true story with a happy ending of what it means to do the right thing! He wanted to take this all the way to trial even if it meant having to defend himself. Even if it meant losing his wife. He wanted his children to understand the meaning of doing the right thing. Doing the right thing not only helps the person who is doing the right thing, but it also helps the community at large. People like this are usually humanitarians that understand the highest good for all humanity! Unless people stand up to these large Corporations, the Corporations will continue to crap all over the people. Money is their God! They only pretend to care about people, but the bottom line is...MONEY IS THEIR GOD!I absolutely loved this movie!

The Bigger the Wedding the Bigger the Divorce
An idea is yours ( no matter what) the expression (given public notice...) of an Idea is fodder for the courts. This film ( and others like it -- consider Tucker) should put any artist/invtentor - anyone with an intelligent imagination to surround himself with people who are business minded working in their behalf and if that is not possible? Go into "Cruise Control" what did Tom Cruise say... heck manage my money? no why would I pay someone else to keep track of my money? its my money, not theirs...." I am bastardizing this but the bottom line is this film gets my A++ for script/ cinematography/ editing/ direction/casting etc. Check it out!

Glued to my seat
How did I not hear about this gem until now? This is a great movie from the "old school" - i.e. no fancy CGI, crazy storylines or multi-million dollar budgets. Just a good, true story well acted and filmed. A keeper!
