I wasn’t sure if this was going to be useful for an external pulley pole since most pictures of these kinds of retainers are on internal pulley poles but it works great. Keeps the flag from getting loose and blowing away from the pole. It also makes lowering the flag easier with the added weight. Seems to be really high quality but it is in a high wind, high uv place, so we’ll see how it holds up.

I love this product. It is large enough to fit around the base of our flag pole when the flag is lowered. (our flag pole is tapered, and wider at the bottom). The weight of this ring holds the flag in place, and keeps it close. Before getting this ring, our flag would wrap around the pole, get caught on the finial, and get tangled up in high winds . Now the flag hangs beautifully, every day. This does not impede the flag flying in the breeze/wind. it just looks a Lot better as it does.

At my Community, several of us monitor our USA Flag. It's easy to raise the flag, but also easy to forget to remove the slack from the rope when you tie it down. This allows the flag to fly too far away from the pole, which seems to aid in the flag ripping (tearing) sooner than normal. The Flagpole Retainer Ring definitely keeps the flag closer to the pole. And it actually looks better, when the wind the blowing, the flag is flying and it stays close to the pole.

The quality of these retainer rings is first class. Their service is top notch, as they really stand behind their products. If you have a flagpole and live in a windy area, you MUST HAVE this. Make sure you measure your flagpole circumference at the lowest point as they measure diameter which does not correlate to the circumference.

I feel happy every time I look at my flag. I feel even happier when I see how square it flies with this retainer ring, even though there may be slack in the rope. The bottom of my flag is always near the pole.
