Gout Diet The Purine Myth: The food that really causes gout

A decent overview or introduction
The book provides a good intro into what processes end up triggering gout. Some passages seem a bit confusing, and some schematics or flow chart, maybe a diagram would help clarify things a bit better. I would have hoped for a bit more detail on what a good meal plan would look like, a raw outline of how you can move from the typical “Western diet” to a healthier one. For that alone I would have gladly paid more. Overall, a good help to start looking into this subject, but by no means as comprehensive as it appears to be from the intro in the book.

I would like to read the author's other books on Gout attacks
This book was very informative. I had high iron levels several years ago. My doctor never even mentioned the risks associated with this condition. If he had, I would have taken steps to remedy this and may have never had a Gout attack. I would like to read the author's other books on Gout attacks. I recommend this book.

I would recommend it for anyone who wants to cure their gout ...
It is a very informative book that delves into the causes of inflammation as relates to gout. She discusses recent changes to the American diet that could be a cause of the recent increase in the percentage of gout sufferers. The book is not exactly mainstream. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to cure their gout by dietary changes rather than taking the meds (allopurinol, probenecid, colchicine, etc.).The book set me off on an investigation of immunity and other cell-level events relating to gout.

Book is for a general understanding of how and why the body produces uric acid.
The book was informative but I don't know how much is truth and how much is just personal opinion. I would have liked to see the references used to write all the medical portions of the book. It doesn't give much of a plan for people suffering with gout so for that I wouldn't recommend it. The book is good for those looking to understand how the body works and why it produces uric acid in general.

Myths busted!
Good read, alternative view backed by sound research and historical facts. Certain foods are gout triggers for reasons other than the ones the health industry has popularised.

Nothing new
Very confusing, repetitive, and poor grammar. The lack of proper punctuation makes for a difficult read. Add the fact that there really isn't any new information, and the book was a waste of time and money. She ends with the same premise she was trying to debunk. Don't waste your time on this.

This book is as dull as the food it recommends
The author recommends bland uninteresting foods to help with the gout. YUK.

Thinner than you expect and easy read
I really found this informative and to be honest, a relief. Having been told I have high uric acid levels, I panicked but understand a bit more about what I need to do. Thoroughly recommend, although I think you may have to look for her other books for actual diet plans etc, this doesn't seem to have those.

Awareness is half the cure
Within a few days of reading Rose Scott's well-expressed book, I have been able better to recognise what I should and should not be eating to help me beat this painful condition. I have all but abandoned my daily intake of wine and really don't miss it. I am not yet out of the Gout woods, but now feel that I am heading in the right direction.

Not what I expected
I was expecting this book to contain some kind of structured diet but it doesn't. A good explanation of what effect various foods have on the body and not dissimilar to books on the diabetic diet. I didn't find it a lot of help in my particular circumstance.

Precise resume of modern diet causing gout.
What has changed that gout is increasingly prevalent? A case for controlling gout through changing dietary habits. Well thought out and convincing.
