I have never made an item from a pattern in this book. That being said, I use the book all the time. Ms. Chin has thoughtfully included enough information in her instructions to allow one the ability to use it as a "stitch enclycopedia." I thoroughly enjoy cable, post and long stitches, and the book is filled with patterns utilizing these stitches.Some of the techniques are hard to follow. You have to take it step by step in order to reproduce them. I think a bit more thought in the layout of the information would be helpful, as would international symbols.I love the book and have recommended it to many of my fellow crocheters. Lily is an excellend ambassador for crochet. If her latest book is a thoroughly useful as this one, I will be purchasing it soon.--Autust, 2005: I have to edit this because I have an afghan almost to Lili's specs, so my first sentence is not quite true anymore. Still am as enthusiactic about the book as ever.

I just want anyone who is interested in Lily Chin crochet books to be warned that the two Mosaic afghan books ARE THE SAME ONE! They slapped a new cover on the book and reissued it, without so much as a notation. So, buy one of them, but don't be fooled into buying BOTH of them. It's a good purchase, but not twice.There are some lovely books in there, but for my taste only about 1/2 or less would I make. Once you have made one of these, be sure to get her next book which is full of many, many designs of mosaic patterns for multiple use. Beautiful!

The book was used, but like new. I was hoping for several different designs, but they really look almost the same. Nice book for the shelf.

Lily Chin's clothing designs & columns are widely reprinted in advanced knitting magazines. This book does not just present attractive afghans with easily accessible yarns. In addition, Ms. Chin promotes a new crochet technique for the (usually) more conservative yarn craft. She shows a new technique need not be hard to master to be worthwhile.Most of the designs in this book are afghans, but a few bonus clothing directions are included. This book should have everyone, knitters included, crocheting! (The crochet CLOTHING book will get a 5 star rating.)

Used patterns for 4 different projects. Nothing novel here. Nothing too challenging. Excellent for mindless crocheting, busy hands during TV or conversation. Excellent price for used.

The pictures are wonderful, the instructions are clear. The book is the kind that will be revisited many times over.

This is a fabulous book! I have already made one blanket from it - gingham squares - and I could make nearly all of them over time. As they are blankets, you don't need to worry about exact yarn substitutions, as long as it's the same general type.What I would say is that it is worth watching the video Mosaic Magic by Lily Chin, I bought mine from Interweave.com, as Lily demonstrates how to do this actually very easy technique (it is when you've seen her do it!), then you can make any pattern from the book.

Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy This book is not for the beginning crocher, rather intended for the intermediate-advanced crocher. Wow, the designs are gorgeous & wonderfully time consuming. Each pattern is just delicious to put together. There is nothing nicer than many afternoons of working one of these patterns. My 1st copy is falling apart with constant use so I had to purchase a 2nd copy - & it's well worth it! Lily Chin has a good eye for color & design. Mosaic Magic: Afghans Made Easy
