Truly Great Product
In September 2023, I was desperately seeking a good shaving soap. The brand I had been using for years had jumped outrageously in price, or was no longer available. I had tried shaving lotions, shaving creams (in a plastic tubes, expensive, and with a chemical scent that bothered me the whole day), and many other alternatives; I didn't like any of them.I went to Amazon, and ordered two different shaving soaps, the MoonDance unscented, and another brand, that comes in a package of two. The MoonDance shaving soap arrived as expected, two days later. A note from Amazon said the other brand was back-ordered and would be sent in 20 days.In the middle of my second shave with MoonDance, I went online and cancelled the other order. I had found what I wanted, and didn't need to do any more 'trying out.'This single item lasted for 10 months!! I didn't order again until the end of July 2024!The smoothest and closest shave ever! But there are other things too. Using a shaving brush, MoonDance lathers quickly and abundantly. It's a pretty foamy lather, and as a result, it doesn't clog the razor—it just rinses off easily and quickly. The side-benefit is that the razor blade lasts much longer. (You don't need a shaving brush, but it's probably the easiest and most efficient way to use this shaving soap.)There are no downsides to this product! For me, it's the best-in-class for shaving.

Smells amazing, lasts close to six months with daily use, and leaves skin feeling soft and supple. Customer for life!!
HI. I have tried all three of the Moondance shaving soaps and this one is my favorite. The smell is amazing!! I'll give you a quick about me, and my shaving habits, and then a run down of the soap.About me: I've been wet shaving daily with a merkur safety razor, with a badger hair shaving brush for about 1.5 years now, before that I used disposables or cartridges. I grow a thick, course beard, and have noticeable stubble over my entire beard area overnight. I have combo skin, oily around the nose and chin, and dry other areas. The Soap: All three soaps Moondance sells are great! I get close to six months out of one bar, with daily use! I use in a shallow ramekin I found in the grocery store, and a badger hair shaving brush. You can work up a thick creamy lather if you wish, though I usually just work up a thin silky smooth lather for less friction. It is very easy to control how much lather you get, and how smooth you want it by varying the amount of water you use, and how vigorously you work up a lather. You can apply this stuff pretty thin and it still holds, and won't drip off your face(That's what she said, boom), and is very smooth. My razor glides effortlessly with this soap. A little bit of water goes a long way! And just leave any extra lather in whatever cup or bowl you use, it will smell nice for a while, then just dry up and when you wet it again you get a little extra lather! This sticks nicely in my shaving cup, never moves. You can just break off a little chunk if you go traveling, a pinkie size would easily last me a week, probably two.I shave daily, and I have been using this soap for a little over a year now. It leaves my skin moist and smooth feeling all day. Sometimes I use a little burt's bees body lotion on my face, but that's about it, I don't use any aftershave lotion or anything. The only products that I use on my face are Dr. Bronners castile soap, Moondance shaving soap, and burts bees body lotion. I have found a winning combination and I am going to stick to it.The consistency and lather is the same in all three soaps, and all three leave my skin feeling great with just a cold water rinse. The only difference I've noticed is the smell. The forest glen is my favorite, slightly warm but refreshing. People probably won't smell this on you, unless they are up close and personal. I leave it on my bathroom counter, and can just barely catch a whiff when I walk in there, I usually pick it up and take a deep whiff, it really is that good. Really wonderful smell, I wish they sold it in a body spray or lotion or something. Maybe they do, I'd better check.Bottom line, for the price of a coffee you can have half a years worth of all-natural good for your skin daily shaving bliss that will leave you smelling irresistible to the ladies! They ship super fast too, and every time I've ordered they've sent a couple goodies along with my order :-)

Almost there, but not quite
The good: nice light sandalwood scent, good glide, nice face feel after shaveThe bad: lather doesn't hold together as well as it should, not as easy to get off brush and onto faceI am not a super fancy shaver, but I do know good shave products, and this one is just okay.Note: this is the 3rd brand of shave soap that I've tried, all with similar issues, all having bentonite clay. I cannot state that it's the cause of the lathering issue, but it's what I'm seeing as a correlation. I would love to see this product made as an experiment without that clay and see it if solves the issues.

dont listen to the fancy ppl, totally fine for the unpicky & casually ecoconscious
Look, don't waffle & be intimdated by the fancy ppl reviews like I was. I'm a lady, shave my legs about 2-3 times a week, this is super easy to use: just wet the brush (artificial) and whisk up the top and fluff across your skin shave and rinse. No need for special bowls, animal hair, shave oil, waiting for blooming, microwaving, soaking, special blades, or any of that. I just wish I'd tried it sooner and saved all those stupid metal shave canisters & $$, I just put it in one of those lil dessert ramikins as a holder. When done I just lightly squish the brush to the top and it sticks to the puck, really small footprint. I do like this better than the viking pucks (although they are totally 100% fine too) it seems to slide better.
