I put mine in a ziplock bag in my suitcase and they didn't leak at all in the bags or out. But I'd still test it first

Temporarily, I don't see why not. If you intend it for long-term storage, I don't think the bags would prevent things like bacteria or algae to grow after so many months.

Are these easy to fill with peanut butter?

The opening is the size of a toothpaste tube opening and peanut butter is about the texture of toothpaste. If you can refill a toothpaste tube you can probably put peanut butter in these. I can't refill toothpaste tubes, so I can't. I have no idea what you're able to do though.

Beyond “food grade” too many types of plastics are unsuited to multiple use; why no mention of what type of plastic?

Not sure what plastic, but have used them for 3 cruises for Liquor. No odor or spillage. Lost one in COCO Cay if you go there.
