Does this grass die when it gets hot out? What fertilizer do you recommend after seeding? How soon should I put fertilizer down?

Perennial ryegrass establishes a permanent lawn that comes back year after year in proper climates the seed will flourishes where summers are moderate and winters are cool. Perennial ryegrass is a cool-season grass, meaning it peaks in growth during cool seasons, from fall through spring. We would recommend applying a fertilizer once the seed is up, actively growing and mowed approximately 3-4 times. The fertilizer we would recommend is GreenView Fairway Formula Lawn Fertilizer which a straight fertilizer, so it should be applied dry and then watered in.

Is a browning look common the first spring following a fall planting? it looked awesome until may 1st in md. grass has been fertilized and cut at 3.5"

Could be disease or too much, too little water. Don’t give up on it. If it looked good in spring it will likely bounce back.
