I got this to have on hand for “just in case” emergencies. Within 1-2 months of purchase, my dog managed to get an omelette that contained onion off the table and swallow before I could stop her. A toxic dose of onion is about 3/4c for a 12 lb dog, but I did not want to take any chances as she is already epileptic. I gave a low-mid recommended dose of 60cc by syringe within 10 minutes and other than being a little messy, was well tolerated and she cooperated and seemed to like the taste. She drank lots of water and peed a lot that evening with mild stomach distension, but otherwise zero symptoms whatsoever. This saved me over $500 in emergency vet fees. If you aren’t comfortable doing the calculations for toxins on your own, the human poison control hotline will help you, as they have info for dog toxicity as well.NB: it states to discard any unused amount within 48 hours of opening but I think keeping it airtight should prevent oxidation of the solution, such as putting Saran Wrap and tape/rubber band before the screw on cap. If it changes color or consistency, I will replace with a new bottle. Keeping my baby safe and being able to administer therapy ASAP is priceless.
