Update: 9 years later- STILL GOING STRONG! Futon still hasn't flattened and is as comfortable as ever.Update: 2 years later- I finally moved out of my college apartment today and I am so glad that I bought this futon since I was able to roll it up and march right out with this on my shoulder while my friends were figuring out how to disassemble their beds and get their thick framed mattresses out. The mattress did not flatten out at all and I still get a good night's sleep every time I use this futon. It's a keeper.Update: 1 year later- Still extremely happy with my purchase. The shiki futon has flattened somewhat but still retains its shape and depth. I think the fact that it is stuffed with cotton makes it a lot less compressible than polyester and that is the strength of this product. I would definitely purchase this futon again.Feels really good for my back. Ideally, you should roll it up daily to prevent flattening, but I do it once a week and it is sufficient. It's good to air it out for a few days before using to get rid of any smells but it's perfect afterward. The actual color of the product is better than the one pictured. It's a dark earthy brown. There is a zip to open up to check what kind of stuffing is inside and it definitely is 100% cotton.

I've been using this as a main bed for a couple months now and it has been great! I typically roll and tie it up each morning because I'm working with a smaller space so the built-in ties have helped tremendously. The mattress is surprisingly comfortable for me and I use it just right on top of a concrete floor. I would describe it as comparable to a firm - very firm mattress. you could probably soften things up if you had it over carpet and put a pillow top over it. But I personally enjoy firm sleeping services so it's great for me!

So I got two of these after reading the reviews, one for my bedroom and one for my kids bedroom in my new apartment.I rate them 5 stars for quality, packaging, shipping... very well done.They look great and you can tell they will last forever.I dropped the two stars because they were just not thick enough to merit the reviews they were getting.You cannot use this alone on the floor and feel comfortable enough.It's nice sure, but you know you're sleeping on the floor.I ended up buying an air mattress for myself, and I took the two of these futon mattresses and stacked them on top of each other, then covered with a mattress pad, the sheet set.At that point, the setup is comfortable enough for my kids to sleep on and not feel like they're lying on the floor..Maybe will be great for someone who loves a really hard feel to their sleep situation, but not me.

Uncomfortable. Definitely needs to be on carpet or egg crate.

I bought this mattress to use for movie nights with my boyfriend because he has back problems and basically has to be horizontal in order to be comfortable for the entire duration of a movie. It's great for how we use it... I can easily roll it up and stick it in the closet, and it's plenty soft enough for a movie. Not sure I'd be comfortable sleeping on it (I'm a side sleeper who likes a fairly soft bed) but it's great for snuggling together during movie night.So... the picture is a bit deceiving. The photo shows a twin sized mattress, not a queen and it's partially rolled up so it makes it look like there's some sort of an attached pillow or something. But it's really just a flat futon mattress. There is no foam rubber inside it, just layers of polyfill that are quilted together. There is a slight odor to the thing and that's from the polyester cover, not the filling. The cover has a zipper at the bottom, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. Because it's quilted all the way through the cover and filling, the cover is not removable - but I guess if you want to look at the filling? Anyhow, we use a washable cover with ours so that we don't have to worry about getting popcorn grease on it.Oh, and the picture makes it look like it's a gray brown, but it's not. It's really a deep chocolate brown color. Not an issue for us, but if you care about the color be aware it's not as pictured. All and all we're very happy with it!

I put this right on top of plywood (platform bed) and love it! This mattress has the perfect amount of cushioning for someone that likes firm support. I was a little concerned because it seemed squishy coming out of the box but it has been supportive and the fill doesn't seem to shift around. This is so much better than all the memory foam mattresses and fancy toppers I have tried in the past. I do think that it falls just a bit short of the given measurements but only by an inch or so. Regardless, I am thrilled with it and don't think I will ever buy a different mattress.

Great Futon, rolls up and stores nicely, is very comfortable and purchasing the product through A&D Furniture was awesome. I needed a futon for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and after the purchase, contacted them asking about expedited shipping. Long story short, we had great communication and the futon arrived in time for the holiday due to them going above and beyond for us. I highly recommend this product and A&D's service!

We love this futon! We were opposed to getting a blowup mattress for our guests. My wife had been reading about the advantages of sleeping on the floor, so we opted to get one of these. My wife loves it so much, she wants to get one for us once our current mattress wears out. It's super comfortable. I have used it several times when my wife has been sick and I don't want to catch whatever she brings home from her work. All of our guests have enjoyed sleeping on this for a night or two. If you are planning to use this long term, however, you really do need another layer of padding between you and the floor.
