Balloon for Chimney - (Small Rectangle - 38cm x 23cm (15" x 9"))

I must say I went into getting one with some mixed feelings. I had never heard of these things before and while it sounded logical I felt there must be a reason why no one uses them or talks about them. But I was proven wrong!The construction is very thick material think similar to a very high quality swimming pool inflatable. Unless you have an extreamly badly build chimney with very sharp bits I dont think there will be an issue. It was pretty easy to fix into place although obviously as you cant really see where you are putting it there is a bit of trial and error until it seals up. Its been in place a good 3 or 4 weeks now and hasnt needed topping up at all so it holds air well. And it has made a really big difference to the warmth in my living room. No more draughts blowing under the door and no more cold air in that room. If anything I think its made a difference to the whole house. Very pleased at the results for the price.

Easy to use but after 5 months of use the balloon has started to deflate.Trying to work out why.

I didn’t really know what size balloon I needed but the online sizing chart was easy enough to follow. As a result the size is perfect but I did find it a bit fiddly to fit as fitting a chimney balloon is brand new to me, it’s really easy to do and hopefully it will save me money on bills.

My house is 132 years old so chi.ney breast is like a dry stain dyke, not a smooth finish with traditional bricks. The balloon is fairly heavy duty so doesn't expand into all the gaps. This shows dust and little fragments to fall down onto the floor as you can see from the photo. The balloon has made a difference in reducing the draft and difficult to say what would be totally effective, maybe dyke a large pillow up the chimney. If was worth a try. The product itself is good quality, just the shape/ construction of my chimney is the problem.

Bought two and both suffered from same fault. After installing up chimney carefully left it. after two weeks it fell out of the chimney it had lost most of its air. Tried it two more times but same thing happened, not useable when this happens.Both of the ones I bought did the same. Tried to complain and get a replacement but no response from supplier. Thought Amazon would help but heard nothing back.............Dont buy, it doesnt work as it always falls out of the place you want it.

TL;DR - the product really works, buy it!!!I bought 2 of these for the 2 chimneys in my apartment as it always seemed difficult to keep the place warm. Installation was as simple as shoving it up the flue and giving it a good hard blow in to the long soft tube. Seriously though, as soon as I put my heating on I could feel the difference. I could also hear the difference as I could always hear the wind/ draft coming from the chimneys, but after installing the balloon I can't hear or feel any draft and it's been pretty dang windy here! I immediately put my heating on and the entire apartment warmed up 2, maybe 3 times faster and it's seriously keeping the warmth for longer. Usually I'd get the place up to about 18°c before going to bed (I don't really like my place too warm as I've got plenty of personal insulation/ I'm fat as heck) and when waking up in the morning it'd have dropped to 10-11°c. Now, I'll wake up and even with outside having dropped below freezing and no heating on all night the thermostat is still reading at least 16°c. Last year was my 1st winter in this apartment and I was appalled at how much gas I was using just to keep it warm. Really wish I'd looked in to these sooner, but I'm looking forward to not paying out the backside this winter now I've installed these!200% recommend!

I kept a picture over the fir place to keep out the drafts, Now the balloon as I call it , is in place no drafts and I can again show off my none working fire ( dont need it working)....looks real again......Brill item, wish I learnt about it way before now........
