LONG LIVE THE JRPG,LONG LIVE DISGAEA! DOODE!
This is a strategy RPG other strategy games:VC,advance wars, fire emblem, super robot taisen og 1 and 2. If your into this type of game know that Disgaea 4 is the latest in a long running series began back on ps2 and also put on psp were disgaea 1 and 2 while 3 was the first disgaea on ps3 it looked like it began life on ps2...this is not the case with 4!!!Disgaea 4 has online play in addition to solo mode and even some level creation to let other players experience what you've devised. Unique features about disgaea wonderfully funny story, level 9999 grinding is something you can do far longer than your average game, japanese voice with english subs makes the story even more funny as you likely don't speak japanese and won't understand what's being said save the text/it comes in english but if at all possible i change the spoken language to japanese with english subs-all disgaea titles can do this and so can VC.If your an adrenaline junkie and your diet consists of :kz,cod, halo, gears or battlefield strategy games are more like digital chess where you must think before acting rather than going in all guns blazing...can you enjoy both strategy and shooters sure ,i do, but far fewer gamers have been exposed to strategy games as starting in feb with kz3 we've seen mostly shooters, deus ex,resistance 3 ,gears 3,battlefield and cod mw3.Out of all of them you'd experience more strategy and tactics in deus ex-human revolution which has a deep story and is more paced than other f.p.s/3rd person shooters. If you want something DIFFERENT and with humor to spare get DISGAEA 4,DOODE.

Decent game
I found this game decently fun. The game for the most part was what I expected of a turn-based strategy rpg. You can find descriptions of the game mechanics elsewhere, and the purpose of my review is just to give you my impressions.1. Story: The story parodies rpgs and is light-hearted. The characters very often refer to terms like final bosses and leveling. The humor is quirky, and I thoroughly enjoyed the humor throughout the story.2. Strategy: The game as expected is very heavy on tactics and has a lot of depth. This is especially true if you just try to go through the story mode without much grinding. Still, the game didn't feel difficult and there were only a couple of points in the story where I felt I needed to spend some hours grinding to level-up my characters to progress further. I would recommend not spending much time grinding as this will essentially remove the strategy aspect to this game. Level-up your characters or their equipment too much, and your characters will avoid almost all enemy attacks or take zero damage even if they get hit. In addition to the story characters that you can use in your party, there is a wide selection of generic characters that you can use in your battles.3. Graphics: The main focus of this type of game is strategy, so I was not expecting graphics like Uncharted. The characters during the story cut-scenes have a lot of personality. In the turn-based battles, though, they seem more like just icons, and I found them somewhat underwhelming. For some reason, there are only a few set viewpoints for the battles which I found annoying as it wasn't always easy to tell where one character was in relation to another depending on the complexity of the terrain.4. Fun: I found going through the story mode decently fun. In addition, there is a post-game where you can continue to level your characters and equipment and where you can gain additional characters to join your party. The story in the post-game is barebones though and seems more about just grinding to see if you can max stats to achieve trophies. I think the post-game could be better implemented as trying to get some of the achievements involves loading a game, entering battle and seeing if some rare event is randomly triggered. If not, then quit, reload and try again until the event is triggered. You literally will need to repeat this process 10 to 100 times in a roll in the hopes of triggering some events. After a while, I realized me playing the game had devolved to me just loading, quitting and reloading the game over and over again.Overall, Disgaea was a decently fun game while going through the story. There is a good amount of strategy involved as long as you don't grind too much and over-level your characters. Characters have personality, but the graphics are somewhat underwhelming during the turn-based battles. Lastly, I really didn't find the post-game much fun as it seemed mostly about grinding.

Not bad at all
I had never played any Disgaea game before, Mostly all the guys i game with wants to either shoot you in the back, or smash you into a wall and speed off. I never actually heard of Disgaea until this year (and that's only because of Amazon recommending it to me) I like all types of games not just one in particular. So i'm not stuck in any one genre of gaming. What made me buy this game was 3 things. The first thing was from the photos on amazon i saw. It made me think of FF tactics gameplay. And it's very similar to that, but with it's own style and variations. Will a fan of FF tactics like this game,I'm leaning more towards maybe, but not necessarily. This game is good on it's simple humor, but sometimes the humor can be a bit of a turnoff for those looking for a deeper more serious storyline. While everything that tries to be funny in game, isn't always funny, i did have a few simple laughs and a smile or two here and there. While being amusing, It's simply just not for everyone, but no game is you know. The second reason was that i looked up a video of it on youtube, It showed some of the special moves, team attacks and, the character creation screens, and that made me go, ...kay may be something to this game. You have a huge class of guys to choose from.Magic types, Brawler types, types in between and things that are just crazy. They are all demons or related to demons in one way or another. The third and final reason that i went with this game was because of it's reviews. But let me warn the graphic seekers out there. The sprites here do look great , but it isn't anything that will blow your mind. Now if you don't like turn based tactical rpg's, you won't like this game at all. It would be a complete waste of your time and money, but mostly, your money. Because you wouldn't play this long at all. But if you like any tactics styled rpg game, then you'll have a good time here with Valvatorez and his crew of misfits.

Lmao
Are you kidding me...First Disgea game I have ever played and you get thrown into some crazy combos, tower attacks. Counter-Counter-Counter-Counter-Counter attacks, Fusions, making your allies turn into weapons and then attacking like a madman...Reaching Lvl 9999 doing millions in damage. This game is absurd. If you like Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Anime, Sardines or just a calm relaxed paced rpg then this is an absolute no brainier, got it dood i'm telling you to buy it.
