Round End Transfer Board

My husband recently had a major accident and he had surgeries on both of his leg and ankle. He is NWB for at least 3 months. We got a transfer board from the hospital to help him move from the wheelchair to the bed. The problem is the board was too short and could not transfer in and out from the car. Every time we needed to go for check up, we had to call those expensive ambulate vans to pick him up. Round trip would cost us $200 and the insurance does not cover this. I then went on to look for a way to get him out of the house without the expensive rides. I came across this sliding board and decided to order it. This was a lifesaver! We got this couple of days before his next check up and we were so anxious to try it. We borrowed a minivan from my brother since it will be easier with sliding door, it was long enough from the van chair to the wheelchair. I was also surprised on how light this board is but able to hold his weight. He weights 175 lbs. We also tried this with our smaller car and he actually said it is easier with the lower car. And since the board is longer and has two round shape on each end, we don't need the sliding door and he is still able to get in there from the wheelchair. But you do need to have plenty of practice using a transfer board and a strong arms to hold yourself up. He uses the grip handle in the car to lift himself up. Now we are able to go out more often and not feeling trapped in the house all the time. This makes the time go faster and easier until he is FWB.I would highly recommend this to people who is NWB and don't have a minivans.

I bought this as a replacement for a shorter, narrower transfer board to assist my elderly mother who has ALS and spendsmost of her days in a wheel chair.The size of this board and it's curved ends make the process of moving her from wheel chair to car seat, or toher easy chair in the living room, or to her bed, etc., easier than the shorter, narrower board we had been using.The length, especially, makes a difference in maneuverability.If you are looking for one of these boards the extra 12 or so inches of length and the extra 4 inches of width reallymake a difference. It flexes just a bit but is very sturdy.

It was exactly what I needed..I should have done the measurements manually insted of guesstimating in my head!..haha! It is truly big. It has so far held up with my weight (240-250) so far but I would hate to chance it with more weight. The workmanship is also great. Beveled edges and sanded to a smooth sliding surface. No problem waiting on it to be delivered either, even with its large size! Great buy, glad I found them.

This board is awesome! We have several boards, since my husband is a double amputee, but this is his favorite. It's nice and long, which helps bridge the gap when you can't get your wheelchair too close, plus the rounded ends help prevent discomfort when sliding it under his rear. We liked it so much, we actually purchased another one to keep in the car.
