Therapists created this board's original design to be used by quadriplegics or others with limited upper extremity dexterity. The slots in the side are used for pushing the board with an open hand or with the wrist. Hand crafted from Baltic Birch, an extremely strong yet surprisingly lightweight wood.

Great with C7 complete SCI, and people with limited hand function
I am a physical therapist who purchased this transfer board to use with one of my patients who has a C7 complete SCI. Where he struggled to place a standard heavy transfer board (the kind with 2 oblong cut-outs) under himself to perform a transfer, he was able to manage this board with ease, despite not having full use of his hands. The combination of the lighter weight, along with the notches along the side made it much easier for him, thus making him more independent. I will add that the finish isn't as slick or smooth as the other wood transfer boards I've used, so there is a little more friction that must be overcome. But overall, I would definitely recommend this product!

In love
Cannot praise this transfer board enough. I'm not a quad. But have upper body problems and could not place the "normal" board properly. I have no problems with it. My PT liked the fact that I could actually use it that she took a picture of it and sent it to my rehab.for future reference. In closing I love it.
