Real Hardwood Tournament Size Crokinole Board by Cape Fear Board Co.

REVIEW OF THE GAME: Our neighbors to the North have been hiding this far too long. What an incredibly fun, addictive game Crokinole is. I have long wanted to put a shuffleboard on my backyard deck, but they are extremely expensive and far too large to keep protected from the elements. Enter Crokinole: a more than suitable replacement that I can bring to the outside deck or keep inside on my living room game table. When played to 100 points, I have found so far that games last around 15-25 minutes depending on the skill level, which hits the sweet spot for me in terms of a balance of keeping my interest while also allowing for multiple games to be played tournament style with friends and family. I enjoy watching this game being played almost as much as I like playing it.REVIEW OF THE CROKINOLE SET: The bottom line question to ask is, "Is This Board Worth It?" At the moment, there seems to be a fairly limited selection of board sets available at this price point and also at a much cheaper price point. When it comes to games that rely on physics, you absolutely cannot rely on a low quality wood set to play a legitimate game, so in my eyes, I would never consider a board at a low price point. While I am sure you can spend considerably more than the current asking price of this board, I do not believe that would be worth it for most normal budgets. The quality of this set is solid, looks nice on a game table (although not nice enough, in my opinion, to display on the wall, as some suggest for storage), and plays as smoothly as any set I have seen on video at major tournaments. I would have preferred a circled outer border, but the octagon design looks just fine. With care, this game set should last a very, very long time. In the end, only you can determine if you will play this game enough to make the price worth it; for me, after only playing a few days since receiving it, I believe that to be an unequivocal YES.ADDITIONAL NOTES: The pictures have a glare on the table which is not from the board itself but from the lights coming from above and behind it. You may see in the third picture, on the display shelf behind the board, a game called "Rock Me Archimedes," a fun game also found on Amazon. I converted that game to a scoreboard, as, coincidentally, the number of spaces on each side of the board, in 5 point increments, adds up to 100 points. I found this to be a really nice, visible scoring system. Also, I purchased some wood wax (Beewax, also available on Amazon) in advance of the game arriving to use on the board surface and the discs. While I don't think it is necessary to play the game, I found a nice difference in the speed of the disc after applying the wax. Finally, the instructions that came with the game were not as accurate or detailed as official instructions you may find elsewhere, so I would consider not relying on the ones that came with the board if you want to fully understand how the game is meant to be played.FINAL VERDICT: If you can reasonably afford it and have a place to store it, buy this game. And thank you, Canada, for this game idea. Part curling, part shuffle board, part billiards, part bumper pool, part carom, part... well, you get the point. That's enough for now; I need to get back to my new addiction.

I had never heard of this game until a few months ago YouTube, for some reason, put a video of it on my home page. After watching a shut up and sit down review of the game, I was hooked.I believe when it comes to crafted games like this, you get what what you pay for. With that in mind, I bypassed the cheaper models and decided on this one based on the wonderful reviews.The board is amazing and I have no regrets about purchasing. It’s as solid as it gets with a beautifully waxed finish. Add in the rubber bumpers, as opposed to the wooden, and there is nothing that takes away from this.I bought powered wax but it is not needed. It changes the game quite a bit and there is nothing wrong with playing with it or not. Personal preference I would say.One thing to note, and this is not a take away: if you watch the matches on YouTube, you will notice the outer border is round and they usually have a 20 cup that attaches to the rim. The border on this board is too wide for this add on. But really, who cares? Thicker wood on this seems higher quality.This company is amazing and the customer service they provided me was something I will always remember. There was a issue when my board arrived, and to say they went above and beyond is a drastic understatement.I can’t recommend this board enough. You will not regret your decision to spend a little more. The people who run the company are amazing. Thank you!

This might be my first review on here ever but I felt compelled as this product was a bit of a leap based on the price and the fact I’ve never played the game myself.My early impressions are that I could not be happier with this board. The craftsmanship and detailing are intricate and flawless. Even the flathead screws serving as bumpers are all turned to follow the line of the circle they are part of.This board is so pretty in person that I’m looming into a mounting system to hang it on the wall while not in use. If you consider that it is a legit wall hanging and a game you can sink hours into (we’ve put 8 hours in in two days), I believe this bad boy is worth the cost.

My husband and I discovered Crokinole while vacationing and wanted to recreate the experience at home with friends. This is a high quality piece that looks and feels exactly like what we used on vacation. It’s hard to tell in the photos, but there’s a lowered area around the board where you can store the discs. It’s definitely worth the money. You will not be disappointed!

Great build quality. Worth the money in terms of longevity's concern. However, I was let down with the lack of slickness the board presents out of the box. The addition of better finished discs and a supply of gliss powder/shuffleboard wax made this board much more fun to play on.
