A quick read into quality sound philosophy as much as guidance.
A quick read into quality sound philosophy as much as guidance. I have not worked the restaurant industry in 15 years but this work is more than that. This is a good quick read for anyone that’s curious about the surface level of business and marketing, or to some capacity to be a better person. Do not let the title discourage you, this is a good read for anyone; I promise you will take something away from it. Pacing for this piece is great with a relatable voice that does not sacrifice writing for comfort. The other side of this book is employees should be handing it to management and owners of all small business not limited to restaurants. A couple of chapters of this book pull back the skin of media marketing and really point at the ugly side as well as wasted money. If an employee gifts you this book buy them a drink with a crisp high five, if you take anything away from this you will save money.Overall I’m very taken back that this is Erik’s first work and so bang on, the guy is a natural writer.

Short, but to the point!
It was shorter than I would have liked, but there was no waffle and what he said made great sense. The book actively promotes the author’s own business, but it isn’t annoying and doesn’t interfere with the flow of the book.It will save you HUGE amounts of time from helping you to avoid heaps of time- and cash- consuming internet dead-ends, which I found really helpful as there are so many options out there that selecting which ones to start with can be quite paralysing.I am ready a lot of restaurant books at the moment and this one was a worthwhile selection.

An easy read packed with simple truths.
I am honestly just getting into the restaurant game through an investment opportunity. I immediately became attracted to the industry and to be honest, i learned that I might be a little crazy for it. Nonetheless, this environment and line of work is exciting to me and this book is a no BS quick read with helpful tips that can change your attitude, your employees attitude and get customers coming through the door. Certain statements are made that invoke thought regarding if you are cut out for this which is excellent. It those statements fire you up and don’t scare you away, odds are you’re headed into a future passion. If it becomes a gut check, examine those thoughts. This book So simple, it’s genius. $100 tip!!!

Good material however...
Book is a quick easy read with lots of good tips. But on the first page of the book it literally says "If you're reading this in 2020 or later, chances are this book is out of touch..." and recommends picking up one of his newer books. I did go to some of the links in the book and several were broken or no longer relevant. So good read, but maybe look for the newer version for more relevant info.

Honesty and No Filler
For my style of reading its perfect. I do not like a bunch of filler BS. Written in the same format as I speak, to the point. I got a lot of value out of it for my Taco Truck.

Read this book.
Quick read that gets straight to the point. Information you can use immediately, I changed my Facebook posts the same day. Also has some good information I plan to put to use in the very near future. Read it.

No Bulls#it at its Best
First, I am the Director of Marketing for a F&B company. We opened a small restaurant about 7 months ago which has been doing quite well in a short amount of time. It seems everyone wants a magic potion that will increase guest count. So I looked for one and opted for no "bulls#it" instead. I'm glad I did. Erik Shellenberger gives a simple outline for success. Most of the suggestions are ones we are already doing (which I found validating!) but he includes some additional resources and options that were not only great to have spelled out, but basically cool options. You're likely to get through this book in a couple of hours (or less. I'm a slow reader). Definitely recommend for anyone opening their first restaurant!

This is the real deal - put your seatbelt on and jump in!
Quick and direct! No mincing words, no looking for subtle meanings and working to read between the lines - Erik's feedback and observations are easy to understand, are backed by real world experiences and are substantiated by a record of success. If your in the industry and even remotely tied to marketing, or even customer relations (and who isn't) this is a good read - and will help anyone in the organization better understand the value of solid, leading edge marketing practices and tools!

Different viewpoint on Marketing, easy to read
This book was short, read it in one sitting. However I felt the value I got from it was good since Erik gives his viewpoint on Marketing and how a lot of professional marketers ship you BS. He even says his book will most likely be outdated in a few years as it's a constantly shifting industry. Not a formal book by any means but that makes it easier to digest as he expresses his ideas in a way that is comfortable for him. The anecdotes and examples are interestingI think the book is worthwhile because of the different viewpoint to look at marketing. I never review Amazon stuff I buy but his call to action has somehow got me here. So he must be doing something right.
