Q: How well do they cope in the heavy rain?

I haven’t worn mine in the rain so I can’t answer the question for certain, however they are very lightweight, dry very quickly, and I’m very comfortable. I would imagine they will keep you dry in the rain though. More a lightweight summer trousers. Very happy with mine.

Q: I'm a size 14 and 5 ft 4 ins tall. What size should I order?

Scroll down to size fittings. They seem to be accurate. I'm 16- 18 (UK SIZE) I ordered a 38" waist as I am a normal shaped human female with a tum and a bum and not a stick insect (obvs. green eyed jealous of model stick insects! LOL. Yeah. No.) I like these trousers as they have a higher waist (so no builders bum cracks when bending). Waist has elasticated side areas with plenty of give for bloated/chocolate-cake days. Came with a soft 1" wide clip belt. Main pockets MASSIVE (almost to knee) long enough for bahco laplander saw, first aid kit and sandwiches. Side pockets very slim, but can fit 500ml water in slim bottle or carabiners. Only down side is zips are not very strong. Cut-offs work well, but wouldn't want to zip-on-off too frequently. Super comfortable. Even old-bird like myself able to flex and bend without restricting circulation around knees, waist or ankles. Tip! - Melt any loose threads with heat (tiny lighter flame, borrow a lit cigarette!) as this seals nylon threads best.

Yes they are a bit rustle when walking, they are great trousers though. They will probably be below your knee as they are just above mine when zipped off and I’m 5ft8.
