The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

This is the screen play. So it follows the film, almost exactly. It's fun to see how the film edits change the final product. If you're a fan of the film, this is neat to have.It also has the color plates. Again, neat.I'd love the book that is featured in the segment bumpers... It would be a phenomenal artistic work in the spirit of Jack London's short story compilations. The intro and concluding paragraphs are very well return indeed. My guess is there are just fragments written for the film. But if the full short stories, my oh my I hope they publish them as a book!But this is not that book, as it is clearly designated as a screen play.

I absolutely love everything out of the minds of the Coen brothers, and the Ballad of Buster Scruggs is already among my favorites. I had to have this screenplay to soak it up just a little more. I was hoping this would also contain the text shown in the interstitial page-flipping scenes, but sadly it did not.This book did, however, contain images from the interstitial scenes, and definitely offers a couple of fresh details aside from that. I'm very glad to have this and I recommend it to any Buster Scruggs or Coen Brothers fans.

Disappointed this was not the actual book used in the movie, it was the screenplay of the movie. However, it really was a unique read, and, the first time I have read a screenplay.The book was interesting in how it did, and did not, follow the actual 6 short stories.I would recommend watching the movie first before reading the book!Overall, well worth the price of the book!!!

I’ve seen this movie on Netflix and was obsessed. It’s off and weird and out of the ordinary, but that’s why I love it. The book is pretty much just like the movie.

I bought three of these as gifts for relatives who loved the show. Don't get me wrong - it's a great screenplay. But as the other comments indicate, nobody thought they were getting a SCREENPLAY when they ordered this, they thought they were getting the BOOK that was featured in the show. I'm incredibly disappointed because none of my relatives are the screenplay type, and if I'd know it was the screenplay and not the book, I wouldn't have purchased it THREE TIMES.

Stories, photography, acting are all superb. Endings not spelled out for you - have to realize them yourself. I had to order the book and have read it and watched again. You see something new with each reading and viewing. Good enough to buy for gifts.

Gave as a gift

Purchased this for a Christmas present for my husband since he enjoyed the show on Netflix.He is mildly disapppinted with this book since it is not the one featured during the opening; instead it is a script of the show/movie.

I had actually thought it was the video rather than the screen play which was slotted among other DVD's.My error. The delivery arrived promptly.

Nowhere in Amazon's product description does it state that this book is the movie screenplay. It looks like it could be a novel written by the Cohen brothers (they are brilliant boys after all) that then formed the basis of the screenplay, which is the impression I mistakenly received.You have to look carefully at the image provided and at the bottom of the cover it does say in small font "screenplay." I ordered this item from my phone. No way I would have noticed that small font.And I didn't. I'm just a little disappointed--more so as Amazon wants $8 to return it.

I really wanted the book shown in the film, but this is just a really thin paperback with the script in. Now I can't even return it for free.
