Holy Eucharist through the eyes of Faith!
This is an amazing compilation on the Eucharist from many Dr.s of the Church as well as saints, in the recognition and love of the Holy Eucharist. The readings are only a few pages each, so good meditation material. Also a great way to connect all the way back to the first generations of Christians and their firm belief in the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.I highly recommend this!

Hour of Power
If I had to review this book in one word, it would be this: "Wow!". My longer review title comes from Archbishop Fulton Sheen, who called Eucharistic Adoration the "hour of power". That said, I am a convert, and for a long time had no idea what Adoration was or what people meant by talking about it. It's also called the Blessed Sacrament. What it refers to is the exposition of the Host in a monstrance, which looks like a metal sun. It's called Eucharistic Adoration, "Eucharist" meaning "Thanksgiving" because the taking of the Body and Blood, the Eucharist, is the center of the Mass.I had no idea, however, that this practice went so far back in the history of the Church. This book begins with Scripture passages, then proceeds to early Church Fathers, including Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, and Saint Athanasius. Usually to read these authors you have to wade through deep textbooks or find translations from the Latin or Greek. What they wrote is eye-opening, and very convincing. It's enough to shake one out of modernist torpor or post-modernist stupor. Since the Church continues the history of salvation, rather than breaks from it, there is a bit on "The Eucharist Prefigured in the Old Testament".Nearly everyone you can name in Church History participated in, and recommends, Adoration, from St. Francis to Cardinal Newman to Mother Theresa (now Saint). There are Eucharistic texts from St. Augustine to Pope John Paul II (now Saint), as well as from Vatican II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. There's a long section of prayers, as well as "classic Catholic prayers". The section "Exposition and Benediction" includes both the Latin and English songs associated with Adoration. There are endnotes in the back, which give the references for all the quotes, but I would prefer they were printed along with the text, especially for the passages of Scripture. It would also be helpful if someone like Father Benedict Groeschel, who writes a blurb on the back of the book, could write an introduction at the front of it. Lacking that sort of initial invitation, this book is mainly an editing job, compiling from the ages all the relevant passages. Well, not all. in the author's (compiler's) words, these 250 pages are "not even remotely exhaustive of the inspirational and beautiful eucharistic texts the Church possesses". All I can say is "Wow!"

Adoration and Eucharist
Excellent book. Arrived well ahead of the anticipated delivery date, well packaged. This book is purchased for my ongoing theology studies for Licensed Lay Ministry in the CofE. It will provide invaluable insights and references for an Essay due on liturgy in the new year.
