Works very well with a Verizon box
Bought this for a 7100 Verizon FIOS HD receiver. My Dad just switched from DirecTV to Verizon and found that Verizon's boxes are much bigger than the ones he previously had. With limited counter space in the kitchen, we had to find a different spot to put the behemoth receiver. Up on top of the breadbox, which is on top of the refrigerator, is where we decided. Unfortunately, the receiver is up too high to effectively use the remote, so I bought this device and hoped for the best. Plugged this IR extender into the back of the Verizon box in the designated IR hole. Then ran the cabled thingy down to rest on the counter next to the TV. Without even needing direct line-of-sight, this allows us to use the remote from anywhere in the kitchen. There is no lag time between pressing buttons on the remote and the receiver response. I only wish the cord was longer but I made it work by moving the breadbox and receiver closer to the edge of the fridge. We are so pleased with this IR Extender that I am buying another one for a different TV location where we want another 7100 box out of the way too. I might even an extra one just to have as a spare on hand if the need arises; I like it that much. No need to spend $20-30 on the other IR extenders out there. This Extender is all you need. $13 is very reasonable price.

Excellent!
I used this product to hide the cable box behind a wall concealing the box and DVR, and still enabling me to control the cable box and television with one remote. Helps to conceal remotely controlled video and audio components in a cabinet or behind a wall for a neat, clean installation. The only thing that is visible is the television. Works very well with Verizon Fios cable boxes. Excellent product. Be sure to check the frequency on which your remote and cable box operates to insure compatibility. I liked this product so well, I ordered 4 additional units, and modified the installation of video/audio equipment to conceal them. I also order two units to facilitate the installation of video equipment in my church. The product works exceptionally well and will help to conceal equipment and provide a clean installation. I would highly recommend.

Great while it worked!
I hooked this to our charter hd dvd-r and it worked great for about a week. After that if you unplugged it and then plugged it back in it would starting working again. Which, was a pain but it would work. After another week it stopped altogether. It's ashame that I paid so much for only a weeks worth of use.

Does exactly what is it supposed to do
Finally mounted my TV on the wall in the bedroom and didn't want to have the Verizon box sitting out. This was the perfect solution. Installation takes no time. Mounted the eye on the bottom center of my TV which is near to the TV's IR receiver. Product works well. Verizon remote handles everything just as if the box was sitting below the TV. Occasionally a little sluggish to react but it may be more a matter of not aiming the remote at the sensor. It was an easy an inexpensive solution that allowed the remote (hidden) placement of the cable box

I purchased this item to go with the Cox mini-box on my Hauppauge TV card in my computer. Everyone in the OKC area needs to have these installed by the middle next month when Cox goes all digital. Yeas, it's a big pain plus Cox gets to gouge me for another $1.99/mo. for each box. But when I installed the mini-box on the TV card I noticed a mini-plug labeled "IR Receiver". So I found this one on Amazon and took a chance. It worked right off and it has a nice adhesive backing and a cable long enough that I could place the mini-box under my computer desk and run the cable up the back of the desk and fix the sensor with the adhesive out of the way. It worked right away and I've had no problems whatsoever.

Hide my cable box? Sure, why not!!!
Great device with plug and play setup. My wife wanted to hide our cable box behind our flat screen TV over the fireplace. So, as they say, "a happy wife is a happy life." We pulled the feet off of our cable box, slapped velcro on the wall and the cable box, and voila, no cable box. But how do I change the channels? I tried the old school way of making my youngest child get up and do it for me but that got old quick. Kids these days whine to much and in return I wine too much. So a previous mover suggested an IR extender. I asked "What is this witchcraft you speak of?" He told me to look on the back of the box and see the port for it. Along with my $150 cable bill, they supplied my box with a port, lucky me. So, I jumped on my favorite site, AMAZON, only second to AMAZON women from Mars! Showed up in one day with Prime and as Emeril loves to say, 'BAMMMMM'. No more unsightly wires, cables, tan lines, cable box, etc.... If you don't buy this, you need psychiatric help.

The device almost solves our issue of having to keep the components door open. It has a small range of angles that work so we have to point the remote very specifically to accurately fast-forward and play programs from the DVR.

Used to control Micca Spec digital audio video player inside a steel enclosure.
The infrared receiver worked perfectly. I needed to mount a Micca Spec digital audio/video player inside a steel enclosure. The infrared receiver could be connected to Micca Spec IR port, then IR receiver window could be routed inside the case to where the camera window was located. Double sided tape on the receiver window end could be affixed and had line of site to user through that camera window. Works perfectly for my use.

Much More Capable Of Receiving IR Signal
I bought a Micca Speck 4K media player which is top notch but it has an IR receiver window about 2 degrees wide and high, so you need a laser-like precision to hit the sensor. This little device plugs into the IR receiver port and can be placed in a better location, but not only that, it is more sensitive to the signal so your aim can be in the general direction even up at the ceiling, and it will carry the signal to the host device. I don't know what cable boxes it works with but for the Micca it is a great addition, because it lets you put it anywhere and let this little IR "eye" catch the signal. As long as your device takes a 38-56 kHz receiver and has a 3-connector 3.5mm socket it should work.

Item works as advertised
Aside from the fact that the self adhesive backing gave out when stuck to painted drywall, it definitely im proved my remote control coverage
