Outstanding Advanced Photoshop Must Read
As a Photoshop user for over 20 years I thought I was fairly well educated with the nuances of this amazing product. As such I was delighted to see an advanced Photoshop book that goes beyond the usual stock examples and uses of thevast Photoshop toolset. If you are inclined to squeeze the full capabilities of this product, this book is a must read.Additionally, the author, Richard Lynch, was one of the most responsive technical writers I have had the pleasure ofcommunicating with.A ***** (5 star) must read !!!

THE ADOBE PHOTOSHOP LAYERS BOOK
So much to learn and do in Photoshop, always nice to have help along the way. Very easy to follow and excellent tips.

Okay, but hard to follow
I like that fact that it can be used with any version of photoshop but I found some of the directions unclear and hard to follow. It would be helpful if the author would advise the reader what to do in different versions of photoshop. There were parts where he seemed to skip some steps, which is very frustrating when following along with the examples.

ummm
Not so helpful in that It directs you to do tutorials but doesn't tell you what your goal is. Very confusing book for me. I would like to know why I am doing a function and where it will help me in the future. So if you are new to layers, it's probably not the book for you.

Layers Book
This is a comprehensive book which includes learning modules geared for persons with some knowledge of Photoshop. The companion images are downloaded from the photoshopcs.com site.Complex processes were broken down step by step, and I feel more confident using the layer modes and effects.

Nice Book
I wish the tutorials were arranged better. I liked the information, it has helped me a lot, now i think more "in layers".

How to use one of Photoshop's most powerful features
I had been struggling with a number of features of layers, most notably using gradients to improve pictures taken in difficult lighting conditions.Reading Richard Lynch's book was like turning on a light bulb and working on the examples that can be downloaded is an ideal way of making sure what you read can be put into practice whenever you need it.The book is very comprehensive and while you would hope not to have to go to the lengths which Lynch does with some of the pictures, his attention to detail means that you have the knowledge needed to rescue pictures that are worth the effort when camera technology, a slip up in photographic technique or lighting conditions have let you down or to turn ordinary images into the extraordinary.

Not for me.
This book was far too complicated for my understanding of Photoshop Layers, although I am not completely withoutsome knowledge of the subject as I belong to a local Digital Camera Club I found the information far more detailedfor my requirements and traded it in for Jeff Carlson Quickstart Guide which is ideal reading for me.

Part of the value of the book is a link ...
Part of the value of the book is a link to a website with sample images to show how various processes work. The activation procedure didn't work and I couldn't get a response by emailing the Author (his suggestion for any problems) so I returned it to Amazon.
