Blair's Pure Death with Jolokia Hot Sauce, 5 Ounce

My husband is a huge chili-head who loves trying new hot sauces and growing some unimaginably hot peppers in our garden (i.e. 7-pot chilis from the Caribbean). His favorite for everyday use was After Death by Blair's, but after trying this one... we have a new winner! While he was able to tolerate the heat provided by pepper extracts, which contributed to the power of Sudden, Mega, and Ultra Death, he didn't like those sauces' flavor. After Death provided the best balance, in his opinion, of heat and flavor without being “impractically hot” as he described novelty sauces such as Da Bomb Insanity.My favorite is Original Death because my tolerance for heat is lower than my husband's and I love the herbs and other flavors in it (e.g. cilantro, garlic, lime). But for hubby to get the right amount of heat with Original, he has to use so much that the additional herbs mask the taste of the food he's adding it to.When I came across Pure Death I was excited. This is a new one to us, as we had previously tried every other Blair's Death Sauce formula available. I'm pleased to announce that this one has replaced hubby's choice for favorite everyday hot sauce. He likes that it does not rely on pepper extract to increase its Scoville rating. The heat in Pure Death is provided entirely by Habanero and Jolokia peppers. It does not contain as many ingredients as Original Death (see included picture of the label), and it is an excellent all-around pure pepper sauce. The Habaneros lend a sweet, fruity flavor simply because that's how those peppers taste (we grew those in our garden, too, so we're very familiar). The Jolokias provide a punch and appear to be of Scorpion pepper lineage with their angry, wrinkly skins.The conclusion is: if you fancy heat without wanting to alter or cover up the flavor of your food, this is one you'll love!Update 10/11/18 - we received this bottle on Monday and it's almost entirely gone just 4 days later! Hubby was pouring it by the teaspoon onto his quesadilla wedges and using it liberally on everything else. Poor sauce never stood a chance. We will definitely be ordering more. The chili is a harsh mistress who demands much of her minions that dare to chase the dragon of heat.

I recently did an at home hot wings challenge (shout out to Hot Ones) and this sauce was used for the fifth wing.This sauce was so delicious that it's the second I've returned to for my daily meals.It's bark is much worse then it's bite. The presentation is intimidating but the heat isn't really there. This felt less spicy then a sauce with only a quarter of it's schoville level. If you're looking for a lovely sauce to add to your meal or to appear tough in front of your friends then your search is over. If you're hoping for some real heat then this isn't the best choice.

The bottle came with the cap cracked open and I cant return it.

Very flavorful. It’s not nearly as hot as I thought it would be though and I am a novice with hot stuff.
