UE ROLL Wireless Mobile Bluetooth Speaker (Waterproof and Shockproof) - Atmosphere (2015)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my speaker.

Every bluetooth speaker is a compromise. Even the big JBLs, which sound booming, don't compare to a home stereo. If you are looking for a bluetooth speaker that packs easily and is light for travel, plus can be handled rough and get wet - this is the winner. Anything smaller or cheaper is going to sound cheap (like the Hydra Photive). Anything bigger (like the other UE speakers) will sound bigger, but cost much more and be harder to pack. Plus most big speakers seem designed to stand on end, and good luck with that happening in the great outdoors. This speaker sounds big and warm, packs easy, and straps to most anything - including your iPod if your end up using the mini-plug with a non-bluetooth device. It can even tell you in plain English how much charge you have left! I haven't tried using two of them yet, but you can pair them for stereo even without using the UE app. We like it enough to order a second one, so we'll soon find out. Typically with outdoor sound, spreading multiple speakers gives a much better distribution than turning up a single speaker too loud. So I'm going to get a second one of these and the total cost will be less than the cost of one bigger speaker.

I had read this speaker supports pairing to TWO devices, which is unusual (most just stay attached to one device). So I got this for me and my wife to share. For this purpose, it works well, and travels from the kitchen to shower area to bedroom, and we use it for Spotify a lot. The device stays clean of fingerprints and is reasonably water resistant, though I wouldn't want to clean mud off of the grill. The speaker comes with a nice app for IOS/iphone so you can remotely turn it on from standby mode.It looks like you can get a second speaker and use it in dual speaker or stereo mode, but I did not test that having just one of these..The line-in port is convenient, as I'll sometimes wire it into my Raspberry Pi (note I'm not saying you can not get this working with the Pi using Bluetooth; I just didn't try as we already have 2 devices trying to pair using BT). There isn't a lot of room around the line in port, so if you have audio cables with thick plugs (like Griffin makes) you won't make a connection. Most of your cheaper/free audio cables have thin plugs though, and I found one in the parts bin.

I like that I can use it everywhere. The sound and the battery is better I havent had any problem with the sound I just want to have something to take and go and this is best in price and portability I love the brand and the sound that came from this speakers. I also convince my mother and father to purchase two more speakers so now they have their speaker all around the house. Is bad because I need to set my headphones on to not listen to them all around the house.

The sound is good. This replaced my Mini Boom. Sound seems just a good.The shape is odd. I don't like the design as much as I liked the Mini Boom, but perhaps the shape creates less of a uni-directional sound? I never had an issue with the Mini Boom, so I can't say for sure.The strap is useful. Since the shape is odd, the strap becomes essential. I strap the thing to my car, to my shower, to my backpack, to tons of stuff. Italso means that I can hide it, since I don't think it looks that great.The charging port has too little clearance. There are situations where you'll want to charge the Roll with a different charging plug than the included one and you might not be able to fit it, which is frustrating. Like my car charger - it doesn't fit - and it's sort of the most important charger I'd like to use.Connectivity is decent. I had issues with my phone recognizing the Roll during initial setup. But that might be a quirk with my (used) model.Ultimately, I wish my Mini Boom still worked.

Bought this for my girlfriend for Valentine's day, made for a great gift! Would definitely buy for myself.Pros:- Volume buttons on the speaker adjust volume on the transmitting device (i.e. laptop)- Non-obnoxious sound when turning on and off. I also have a SOL REPUBLIC DECK Bluetooth speaker, and that loudly says "DECK is ready to pair". The UE Roll simply makes a soft drum sound. :)- Party mode allows multiple devices to connect and play music.- The iOS and Android app is very useful.- It's very water resistant.Cons:Bass is ever so slightly lacking, but impressive for the size, and better than the DECK.

This is really a unique take on a bluetooth speaker, but I love it. The sound quality is good, the charge lasts for quite a while, and it easily pairs with my Android phone. Best of all is the bungee cord that lets me hang this speaker in all sorts of places. It took me a while to realize the "design" on the front of the speaker was actually two buttons: volume up and down. I believe this speaker is also supposed to be waterproof, although I have not tested that feature yet.I feel this is a little expensive for a bluetooth speaker, but the extra features are a huge bonus over other models.
