Exactly what I was looking for: motion-sensor, light-sensor, battery-operated, indoor/outdoor, etc.
Exactly what I was looking for. Motion-sensor, activates only when it's dark, battery-operated, indoor/outdoor use, simple discreet design, easy to install.Installed one above the front door to illuminate the area so we can see the keyhole at night. Works perfectly. The motion sensor senses motion in a larger area than where the light shines. The light is a bit concentrated to literally directly below it, but works for our purpose. It's not going to light up an entire patio or front porch.Easy to install. I screwed it into the ceiling but commercial double stick tape might have worked as well since it's not that heavy even with the batteries in it in case you can't drill into wherever you want to put it. The light sensor keep it from turning on all day long so it helps save battery. Can't think of anything bad to share. Simple product that just does what it's supposed to do.

Great idea, great implementation
This is a well-implemented idea. The light is fairly bright, given that it runs on 4 C-sized batteries, but don't expect the same amount of light that you'd get out of an electrically wired light. Running on C cells instead of smaller AA cells should give it more life between battery changes. The unit will only come on in near or complete darkness to save battery power. Note that if the light comes on, then I turn on an electric light, the light will not go out. I suspect this is because it's not smart enough to know that the light is coming from another source and that it's own light is not needed anymore, but no big deal.I put my unit in a bathroom, but found that it was turning on when I got to close to the bathroom entrance because it could see out the door. I didn't want it going on unless I actually went into the bathroom, so I put some blue tape on the part of the sensor that could "see" out the door and that fixed the issue.I have noticed some reviews complain of the unit failing. I will update this review if my unit fails. It does seem like the manufacturer is willing to replace failed units at their cost. I also think that it's relatively expensive. I think $15 to $20 each would be a more reasonable price.By the way, another similar product, but that doesn't run on batteries (requires a normal light bulb socket) & gives much more light is Viridi Motion Activated 6 Watt LED Bulb (2 Pack) . I give those bulbs 5 stars as well.

Works really well for a closet situation.
These have one CREE LED which is a nice high quality bright LED. Not an array of several LED's. It also has a reflector to help focus the light like you would see in a flashlight. It takes 4 C size batteries so it should last quite a while between battery changes.I installed one of these in a small closet for clothing and one that has a compact sized washer/dryer in it. These lights are not as bright as a standard wired light because they do not put out as many lumens and not as omni-directional so that the light is reflected off the white walls. So the light these project are not going to replace a regular light bulb. That said they have been the best battery operated solution that I have found. The light is reasonably bright and though it does not get in every corner as would be ideal it does suffice. The motion sensor works excellent for turning the light on when the closet door is opened and shuts off 30 seconds after the door is closed and it can no longer sense movement. I found in my situation that installing the light as close to the front of the closet door worked best so that some light leaked in to the front and was not covered up entirely be the washer/dryer unit under it. It also sensed movement very well from this location. So while a regular wired light would be better this is the best battery operated solution I have found and since it is placed up high not needing to operate a switch has worked out well for the person that uses the closets that is not very tall.I give it 4 stars only because I wish it were brighter or put out a wider pattern so it reflected off white painted surfaces. I think using two LED's per unit and altering the reflector could do this (rather than having to buy two separate light fixtures). It is possible the beam pattern and brightness might be more suitable to your needs so your rating might differ from mine.

Mr. Beams light is functional
I had a chance to install this over the weekend - Took longer to find the studs than actually installing! The easiest and most reliable method is to screw directly into your wall/ceiling studs. I would not recommend the anchors if placing in a possibly damp environment (i.e. shower or covered exterior). The light itself is perfectly bright for the shower I placed it in. Some may say it is too dim, but waking up to a spotlight in your face isn't my idea of pleasant. This casts a natural-light glow directionally that is probably less than a 40-watt bulb and greatly enhanced the look and function of the shower. Because it's on the ceiling, I'm expecting it to last. I'm concerned about the battery life and if that becomes an issue, I'll update my review. The only slightly negative thing I can say is it seems to have an automatic shut-off after a few minutes of being on even if there is motion. Whilst showering, it would go dark and I'd have to make exaggerated movements to turn it back on. This isn't a major issue in my application, as I still have some light from the shower door, but it might be if you place it in an otherwise totally dark room.I love it and it is the most perfect light I've come across for my shower because of the ease of installation and price.Packaging was adequate; C-Cell batteries not included; mounting plate/screws/anchors are included; made in China.

Perfect
Does exactly as advertised. We have two walk-in closets in our Master bedroom. They were horrible due to the lack of light. Even turning the ceiling light on in the bedroom would not cast enough light into them to be able to see the closet contents without much difficulty. The Mr.Beams light turns on as the door opens. Fantastic. The auto turn off feature is great and saves the batteries. The light illuminates the whole closet. Such an easy fix for a problem we just lived with for much too long.

Works perfectly for what it's designed for
These ceiling lamps are perfect for the laundry closet or anywhere else where you need light occasionally. In my condo, I use them in the closet where I store my cleaning supplies as well as for the coat closet by the front door. You should position it carefully so that the lights get activated as soon as you open the door (in my case, they were sliding doors). Battery life is not bad as long as you use them for what it's designed - occasional use. If you place them incorrectly (where they are likely to come on-off more frequently) or if you find yourself using them in locations where they get heavy traffic, maybe a hard-wired light is a better option (as compared to a battery-operated one like this one). Each light requires four C-type batteries. Installation is also extremely simple.

Good for small area with its directed lighting; wished photosensor worked
I bought this set of two MB982 just before a power outage and they worked fine during the outage. Strength is only 100 lumens each, but alright for a small closet or other small area/staircase (I had two of these in a walk-in closet and you could get by). Once the power was one and lights in the closet were working, we found that one would always motion activate even with the lights on, resulting in draining the batteries really quickly. Changing locations and exposing to more light didn't matter, the photo-sensor is defective. The other works as intended. But now I have to return one of them, what a pain. Though I had originally intended to use them in a large shed, I now think that they are not suitable as the light is not bright enough and too focused for this purpose. I would suggest that they would be more suitable for small areas like a staircase or maybe in a camper bathroom where the directed lighting would be effective, otherwise a lantern works better at projecting more omnidirectional light.
