A KATANA OF KATANAS. Vetern sword collector and user.
A MUST HAVE!!!! WOW!!! WORTH IT!!! ok nerding over. I unboxed this sword in a foam box. Nice touch I like the complete foam box. The sword is incredible. I am a difficult person to impress when it comes to swords. But this sword. For the price, it equals a sword I have for 4 times the price. The sword is incredible, sharp, tight no rattle, great weight and balance and you can tell it was hand sharpened which make me love it even more. I can see all the imperfections that bring out its beauty even more. I love it. Auway swords where have you been all my life.

Great Look and Feel
I am not a subject matter expert on Japanese style swords. I am a photographer that needed a prop for a photoshoot fast. I got the sword within 24 hours of ordering, which was amazing. The sword I got felt sturdy and of quality material. The aesthetics were a little off, such as some of the trim painting along the hand guard, but to me that was not a big deal. The blade is sharp and sturdy, and I like the wood-like sheath. From an art perspective the sword Is great. It was a beautiful prop for the photography I used it for. From a application standpoint, again I’m not an expert, nor do I plan on engaging enemy in 18th century style Japanese warfare. But, I could see myself slicing up a watermelon, or if times got really bad (like zombie bad) I would be happy to own this. But for now I will display it until I use it again for a photoshoot. Really nice Especially for starters!
THE RED ONE ORCHID TSUBA: Tough, sharp, and well balanced this katana is really good for practical purposes. But does NOT have hamon, real rayskin, or really nice ornament "menuki". But its red blood spattered scabbard "saya" and its synthetic red rayskin and brass guard "tsuba" Look really nice for a really GREAT price. Cuts very nice. Ive tested it on mats, bottles, fruit, cans, wood"NOT RECOMMENDED", and against another sword "DEFINITELY DO NOT EVER DO!" though it survived really good through it all the only damage to it.... Was the sword vs sword. It left a good little chip on it :( BUT! Ive sanded and polished the chip and now looks better than it first was :D but seriously for such a great price for a 1060 high carbon steel battle ready sword. Its WORTH ALL OF IT! And if this is your first sword you will start off RIGHT!

This thing is legit! Exceeds expectations...
This review is for the Dragon Tsuba sword. I've only owned this sword for about, 6 hours now, but I'm absolutely in love with it. It feels incredibly strong, and I don't feel as if it would ever fall apart. It's very tight and there's no wiggle at all. The sheath and blade are amazing, however I was most impressed with the Tsuba. In some of the pictures, it looks as if it may be the cheapest piece on the sword. This is not the case. The Tsuba has a strong beefy feel to it, and completes the entire sword. I would never expect to receive this quality at under $200...a steal!Came well wrapped, and oiled. I'd suggest buying a stand (as I did).

Ornament piece only, not for practice of tameshigiri or anything else.
The pics show 2 mekugi but there was only one. I had to drill another hole and add one myself. The tsuba was also loose and rattles. I decided to take a closer look at the blade and after sanding off the electroplating color there was no hamon, meaning this sword is useless as a practice weapon for tameshigiri. It will never keep an edge since it is very soft from the edge to the "mune" (spine). I do NOT recommend unless you like expensive display pieces.

Great quality, very pleased.
Purchased for my boyfriend for Christmas and he was so happy with it. He spent time in Asia when he was younger and this brought back memories for him. He says it is excellent quality and definitely worth every penny. The blade even came oiled and sharp which I thought was nice. Overall I would recommend this to people wanting something authentic and high quality.

No sharp need to put pressure to cut paper the steel is not gold color is like a bron or a bronce not like the picture the hamdle is gold color perfect like espected but not the blade that is th3 most important. To mucho money for not the right quality

The gold standard, no matter how ya slice it
Very beautiful looking sword the grip is very comfortable it’s not gold more of a copper colour like a shiny penny and the metal ring where the handle meets the blade is a little bit loose on mine but I told them that and they refunded my money and let me keep the sword very great customer service, will buy from them again

Very nice
My katana arrived nicely with the blade nicely oiled and a plastic bag over that,,to keep the moisture out. But,the saya(scabbard) had a couple dents(1/16 square and deep) from the staples that make the shipping box. Couple of emails with they're customer service and problem solved. (Small refund). The blade is gorgeous and perfect.The wrap on the handle tight and very well done. The bamboo pegs to hold the handle to the tang are each slightly different,giving it an excellent handmade look. Well done,,just need to improve the packing for shipment. I deserve a small Thankyou fee because that small improvement could save your company $$.

Has a good feel to it
A few comments:- While good enough for the price, I would challenge the product description provided here. The sword does not appear to be tempered with a hard edge as a katana normally would be. In a sense, it is a generic sword with the cosmetic appearance of a katana, not forged like one.- The sword does have durability issues. A low-impact clang from another sword chipped pretty deep into the blade of this one, leaving the other sword unscathed. Per the above comment the edge here is very soft.- Comes reasonably sharpened. Passes paper test and fingernail test.- I measured the balance point for this sword at just under 15cm from the guard. Has a good feel to it.- Had a few scuff marks on the scabbard, but this was negligible and may have been from shipping.- Visually appears as advertised (red one).- Blade was oiled fine. I noticed some reviews complained about the oil as being grainy, but I did not experience this- I think it's the material, but the sword slides into the scabbard very easily. Whether that's good or bad may be a matter of taste, but it's nothing like the pull of a leather scabbard.

What do I know?
My first purchase after deciding to start collecting swords, I held off on giving it a three star review on that lack of knowledge. Personally I feel the picture exaggerates the richness of the gold color a bit especially on the blade. I also acknowledge that blades are supposed to be oiled but the factory oil was full of grime which isn't the end of the world just not a nice first appearance. It DID however show up in one week instead of the two to three week estimate, so there's that. Aside from the color which makes me need to sit in the sun for me to appreciate as the photo had me, to me it seems like a well built show piece and I am still pleased with my purchase.

Quality Katana
West concept (the seller) was great with answering questions that I had about the sword. Even with the corona virus delaying the mail by a few days. West concept ensured that the sword was still coming in the mail.West concept was able to keep me posted via canada post tracking as to when the sword would arrive. I'm very grateful for their service. The sword itself is smooth and could use a sharpening. Other than that everything went okay, the sword is fabulous.

Beautiful display item
I am giving this sword 5 star rating bc in my mind it is def worth it!! Absolutely beautiful sword for the money, very impressed by it and how fast it came in! Honestly wasn't expecting for atleast another week. And not sure what buddy is talking about but my saya (scabbard) fits perfectly on my sword. Truly is an impressive display piece, highly recommended it :)
