Why do I need to get this tailgate assist? Does it conflict with my oem damper?

This assist will safely control the drop rate of tailgate and allows it to glide slowly open. No more loud noise of the heaven tailgate slamming down. This is an additional parts that improved your tailgate, will not conflict with your oem damper.
