Summer Rustic Home Safety Gate, 29" - 42" Wide & 30" Tall, for Doorways & Stairways with Extra Wide Walk Through

Ok so a few things.First, it's nice looking, heavyish and overall looks good and not like plastic. I'm impressed with the aesthetic design on it. The height is also nice. But honestly, that's about it. Oh, and it swings both ways! Bonus.The thing is a bit of a bear to get installed. This gate should accommodate our hallway based on measurements with about 2 inches to spare total. But it's a little flimsy and is completely maxed out on spread. The pressure lever is ridiculously awesome, if if held prior to using it. But it doesn't. So you're basically pushing/pulling both sides to ensure that it's tight before you push it down. If you release the lever, the extra tension is immediately released and the gate shrinks, so it doesn't have a catch to keep it and you're always losing some tension during the install. It's pretty easy to grab and yank on, my 12 month old who is not a hulk baby for the most part could potentially pull the whole thing down. She stands next to it and shakes it trying to get out and the overlapping fence pieces wobble.Next issue, the hinge for the main part of the gate is designed in the center of the piece, directly across from the latch and bottom catch pieces. The problem is that the fence overlaps so it doesn't sit flush with the frame. This could be a non-issue for you, but the bottom catch is slightly difficult to catch with a baby in your hand when it's trying to line up straight and the whole fence is not straight. Plus, it's heavy so you end up using 2 hands to get the bottom catch and sliding the latch in. My 7 year old hasn't quite figured out how to undo the latch because it's pretty cumbersome and it always takes me a few extra seconds to get it secured. When you open the gate, you essentially slide the extender back over the main piece of the gate and then have to re-extend because there's no piece included that keeps it at the same length (and I'm not sure you'd be able to even just swing it straight out because it's multi-directional and the latch surrounds it on both sides. If you have a toddler, this isn't ideal, because their hands are probably in the gate so when you go to extend it, you're probably gonna snag their fingers. Did I mention it was heavy? Well, all that weight is on the gate.It looks nice, it's solid, it's dangerous and it doesn't close and open very easily. We're gonna have to send it back and look for something else at this point.

I’d give this 5 stars if it were the color was accurate. The color of this gate is NOT the color in the photo. It’s tanner/browner/woodier. (I know that’s not a word but you get it. ;)) It works with my decor because I have a mix of wood shades but if I needed the grey, rustic look as advertised, I would have returned this.

This is the best pet gate I have ever purchased. It came quickly, it was extraordinarily easy to install, ant it operates marvelously. The gate opens very wide - much better than the small openings on other gates. The slats are vertical so pets can’t find a paw hold to climb over. Love this gate!

Everyone that comes to our home always mention that our baby gate is so unique and looks expensive. The gate is easy to install, stays in place tight and any accessory fits it perfectly.

Giving this a 3-star only because the color is clearly a more natural, tan on the wood and not remotely "rustic gray" even though that's what the name and answers from the company suggest.The assembly was very quick and easy though and if you're not banking on the color, this is a very nice gate. I needed something with either very skinny bar spacing or wooden because we have a 3lb Yorkie that fits through everything. This fits the bill. Wish it was actually gray instead but not a deal breaker for me.

Love the way it looks. Make sure you put in place right or it will fall if gate stays open
