Confessions of a Video Vixen: An Eye-Opening Memoir of Survival, Abuse, and Redemption in the Music Industry Review: Wow+Deep= 5 star book!!! - I am late when it comes to reading Confessions of a Video Vixen especially since I read Vindicated first. I was scrolling through the comments section and noticed a reader suggesting that readers pick up Confessions of a Video Vixen to read why Karrine became a person who thought violence was normal and continued to stay in and return to abusive relationships. When it comes to why Karrine wrote Confessions of a Video Vixen, I didn’t believe that Karrine woke up one day thought “I’m going to go sleep with Ja Rule, Usher, Diddy, and others, so I can write a book about it”. One lesson I have learned about stories is that there always more to them and that is the case with this book. Confessions of a Video Vixen is a story about a girl who endured physical, mental, and emotional abuse from mother and it began a cycle for Karrine that continued as she found herself in abusive relationships. Karrine’s mother put in her mind that she was unwanted, unloved, and unworthy. In my honest opinion, Karrine went looking for love in all the wrong places because of foundation built for her was weak. Karrine’s mother and ex told her constantly how she was unloved and the cycle continued in this book and her other books. In this book, Karrine also battled depression, alcoholism, and drug addiction that built on the destructive cycle she was already on. I believe one of the saddest moments in this book outside of Karrine’s mother abusing her and lowering her self-esteem was how her ex (who she met when she was 17 while stripping) kicked her out while she was pregnant because of an argument and before she left, he demanded that she cook a steak for him and the only thing he cared about was making sure his steak didn’t get burned. Another sad moment in the book was when Karrine was being put out of her home and she called a few of the guys she had hooked up with and partied with and asked them for money so she and her baby wouldn’t be homeless and they didn’t seem to care. According to her, they provided thousands of dollars for shopping sprees and other things, but when she really needed help they could only spare her a few hundred dollars. Karrine learned that these guys were just using her and turned to hustling in order to feed her son because she didn’t have any money. It was a lesson that Karrine had to learn the hard way when it came to the men she thought really cared about her. It was amazing reading the biography of Karrine’s life and reading the “more” to her story. This book is worth the five stars that I’m giving it. I see why it was a New York Best Seller. I’m glad Karrine wrote this book to show just what goes on behind the scenes at video shoots and it’s more to them than shooting fun music videos and meeting so called cool people. One last thing: I received Vindicated and read it in two days at the beginning of June and by the end of June, I had bought five of Karrine’s books. When I start reading Karrine’s books I read them in two days or less because I can’t put them down. It’s nothing for me to lose interest quickly in a book, but that’s not the case with this book because, like Vindicated it was one of the best ones I have read. I suggest this book and Karrine’s other books to anyone who is looking to read interesting, informative, and entertaining books. Review: Easy Read - Loved this book

Definitely not a tell-all but its a good read
interesting short read. the story timeline jumps around often but is easy to follow. if you are looking for details along with said 'confessions' you will not find any in this book. it is more of a compilation of general life events than a deep detailed story of the girl behind them

I LOVED this book...
I have read all the previous reviews on 'Confessions of a Video Vixen' on amazon.com & I just had to make a personal comment myself: While many of you think her only point in making this book was just another way to make $, I definitely disagree! Sure she probably wanted to profit from her ups & downs (who wouldn't?) But, After reading her book it left me with the feeling that she wanted to tell her story bluntly-no matter how she would be judged for it- so she could possibly let other women & even young ladies know the 'video girl' life (that is now glamorized constantly on B.E.T, MTV, VH1, ETC.), and having sex with entertainers for $ or just because, is definitely not the way you want to live your life. Her story says" Karma is a B*t@h!!! ". And judging by her up & down struggles in life so far she is still learning from her previous mistakes. Please remember no matter who you are no one is perfect! Her most important point in this book to me is by her admitting that for the 1st few years of her sons life not only was she not there for him but when she was present she definitely was not a positive role model & because of this she has to live with the reminder in her own heart that she missed MANY things she can never replace like: enjoy seeing him take his first step, his first word, eating by himself, etc. All of you women with children should know- like myself- nothing can explain or replace the happiness of seeing your child do these things. I believe this story shows `what goes around comes around'. A good example of this is, since her mother treated her abusively (rather it was by physical/verbal abuse) she too then did this to her own child. ABUSE (no matter what form)is a learned behavior. One which many families have (sad to say.) So while she is now in the process of living a positive life & trying to change it makes more sense to see the positive changes she has made rather than knocking her for her past mistakes. I know by looking at a majority of your review lists (of other books you have previously read) most of you probably would have enjoyed this book much more had it been fiction. But the reality is it isn't! I find it quite strange that men are constantly praised for sleeping with as many woman as possible (even those with wives) while the minute a woman does it she is looked down at. I believe she made the best of her `chosen career' (if you will)& she is now trying to show others why NOT to make the choices she did with their lives. Regardless this is one of the best books I have ever read & I hope others who read it see the Positive points of changing ones life rather than the negative.

This is a great book. Warning; there’s a lot of violence though and graphic child abuse. Those parts are so hard to read. Her love for materials, drugs and using her body as currency is the point but is pretty hard to understand (to me) too. Good book though. Worth it and illuminating on Hollywoods depravity

Me gusta que advierte sobre ciertos peligros pero a veces el libro se siente como más libro de chisme que una autobiografía

I could not put this book down, it was the fastest book I've ever read. The way she writes you can easily picture everything that is happening. I did not know of her before these books but I wish she wrote more!

I have always wanted to the read this book I decided that I would give it a go and I also read the reviews. This book seems more of an emotional rollacoster with loads of sex and rich men thrown into the mix. I don't know how to feel about Karrine/Superhead there is a part of me that does feel sorry for her but she is an adult she knows right from wrong I think she is very naive young women and she is confusing sex with love. She is also using sex to get ahead in life to maintain a high expensive lifesyle. There is nothing wrong with wanting the best in life and the best for your child but there are ways of getting it without opening your legs to every rich Tom,Dick,Harry. There did seem to be some men in the book that seemed to have genuine intrest in her but she seemed to go for the men that were already in relationships. In the begin of the book when she explains about her childhood I do feel sorry that she had to go through the abuse of an un-caring mother and the domestic abuse from her husband. This a book where everyones opinion will be diffrent and will have the own views. I personally think that she was high priced prostitute she was bed hopping from man to man so that she drink the best champagne and have a few designer clothes and a nice car. I think that Karrine/Superhead is just a women who wanted to be accepted.
