I had this set on DVD and i decided to buy it on bluray because i wanted to see if the picture quality was better than the previous DVD box set; I wasnt disapapointed one bit,the picture qulaity is far better than the DVD set and i liked it very much indeed; I highly reccommend fans of these seriesto rush out and buy this bluray box set asap!!

Fun memories of 40+ years ago. Have this on VHS. Recently unearthed it and decided on video replacement therapy.

Bought to replace the DVD equivalent set. Good purchase. Video quality for most of the action good. Sound could have been better, but not bad considering the age.

Probably a set best reserved for core fans or the highly curious but for a slice of late 70’s science fiction it’s not a total waste of money.The HD remastering isn’t likely as painstaking as, say, the work done on ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ a few years back but it remains a huge improvement over standard definition and in actual fact, the special and visual effects largely aren’t ‘bad’, they’re just of the time the series was made. It clearly was an expensive show for its time and they were trying to do some complicated visuals on a TV budget.The concept is easy enough - Captain Buck Rogers, a space pilot from 1987 is accidentally frozen in his starship and blown into a wide orbit which returns him to Earth in 2491 long after nuclear war has devastated the planet and human society has been rebuilt. Encountering Colonel Wilma Deering and co-operating with her on various missions, Buck has to learn to exist 500 years out of his own time. That is, when Princess Ardala of the powerful Draconian Empire isn’t trying to destroy the Earth so she can get her hands on him............Story wise season 1 is pretty all over the place, veering from the enjoyable to the patently ridiculous but it colourful and fun. Season 2 reboots the show’s concept and cast into an uneasy blend of original ‘Star Trek’ and original ‘Battlestar Galactica’ as Buck and Wilma leave Earth and join the Searcher spacecraft looking for lost tribes of Earth’s nuclear past. However, it has to be said that it does try to be less silly and a bit more serious than season 1. It’s not entirely successful at doing so though and as the series was cancelled midway through production of the second season there’s no proper finale either.As has been noted, there are no real extras apart from the inclusion of the non HD theatrical version of the original pilot (which in my opinion is better than the television pilot although the different material in the television version better sets up the first season, so it’s a toss up between them) and syndicated non HD versions of ‘Flight of the War Witch’ from season 1 and season 2’s ‘Journey to Oasis’. It’s a real shame no effort was made to include anything at all as there must be plenty to talk about given the series history.

I gave this 5⭐ as I think its great value for money. Plenty of disc's included. All the episodes. Picture & sound quality excellent. Delivery on time.👌I bought this dvd for a xmas gift & theres one very happy fan enjoying this dvd set.Thank you very much. 😁

A not to bad a syfy series that should have been better if went the way of the movie that gil gerrad would have wanted it to go he didn't like the series or wanted it to have a second season it only ran for 11 episodes in the 2nd season due to the writer strikes had some guest appearances and some up and coming young actors on the show
