Our narrow windowsills offer little space for our cat, who, like cats everywhere, loves to sit in the window watching the great outdoors. This perch allows an indoor kitty to believe herself she is an outdoor animal. It is attractive, wide, stable, and easily accessed. At 12” x 23.5” it allows a cat to sit, stand, turn around, and recline comfortably. For active cats, put a piece of clear acrylic across the screen of an open window to prevent the cat from pushing out the screen and possibly falling. This perch, unlike a narrow sill, supplies a stable base from which to batter screens. Less aggressive animals need no protection.The perch arrived on time. Assembly was quick and easy with unambiguous drawings and instructions in good English. Within minutes it was safely installed on the windowsill. For cats under 20 pounds, no tools are needed to install it. For animals up to 35 pounds, two screws and anchors are supplied to secure it to a windowsill (drill and ¼ inch bit needed).The perch consists of a hinged MDF board, cushion, two metal supports with hand-tightenable screws to attach to the board, and industrial strength Velcro strips to secure the board to windowsill and cushion to board. It does not collapse or scoot around when Fluffy jumps onto or off it. Lightweight and both board and cushion fold up into a compact rectangle for storage. The metal supports have rubbery pads where they touch the wall, which add stability and protect the wall.I will adhere more Velcro on other windowsills and occasionally move the unit for a variety of views.The foam cushion is thick and luxuriously covered in a neutral gray fabric designed to catch and hold fur, but which will also release it with a sweep of a damp cloth or a vacuum nozzle. The cat, old and arthritic, enjoys the cushion’s comfort and is happier reclining at ease instead of struggling to keep her footing on a slick and narrow sill. She jumps easily onto the unit and controls takeoffs and landings by gripping the pad with claws.Cats are often shy about new things, so pick Fluffy up and place her on the perch the first few times, giving encouraging petting, while she adapts to the feel of this new great place to spend her days. Or scatter catnip and treat nibbles on the perch to make her feel at home.The only drawback was the packing. It was well packed, but the Styrofoam-like packing material crumbled easily during transport, requiring a quick pass with the vacuum over all surfaces to remove flecks. If the maker used a tidier packing material it would please fussy customers like me.I give this unit 5 stars out of 5. So does the cat.

I have three of these, and each of my cats uses them. They are very easy to install and sturdy. In my former home, it was secure enough with just the Velcro they provide because the windowsill was wider. In my current home the windowsill is not very wide, and I’ve had to screw them in. It’s still very easy to install if you use the screws. For size reference, my first windowsill was just wide enough for my cats to sit on, but on my current one they are not wide enough for my cats to sit on without a perch like this.

Cat loves the shelf - until they destroyed it. I had the product for less than a month, and somehow, my 13lb cat managed to destroy it. The velco isn't exactly the greatest at staying attached to one another on one of the strips provided for me, so it would continuously come loose from the windowsill. Given that I am in an apartment, I am not allowed to drill holes into the windowsill to secure it with screws. I made sure to restick the velcro as often as I saw it start to slip, but it kept coming loose, until last night, where even the metal post that keeps it against the wall broke off from the bottom of the wooden part of the product.Otherwise, 3 out of the 4 straps work great and stay in place. The cushion itself is quite comfortable, but with the metal hinge (?) or prop (?) breaking off from the bottom of it, the wood is quite cheap. Quarter inch particle board, if I'm correct.

Our cat just loves her new window seat! This is the only one I found that would work with our windows. We have a newer house, and the windows didn’t allow for it to hook over the edge of the shut window. I anchored it directly to the pane, so there are no worries about it sliding or falling.

Your kitty will love you. It was so easy to put together. My cat will sit for hours and hours watching the birds.

It looks as though there were complaints about an older model's two, small hinges, so they replaced them with a single large hinge. That would be fine except the bulge from the hinge prevents the shelf from laying flat on the sill. You have to use the velcro as "spacers" even if you're planning on using the screws.The velcro on the board comes pre-attached for some reason. It was too far back so I had to remove it and reattached closer to the end so it wouldn't be partway off the sill.The fabric cover is pretty wrinkled. It looks as if the foam it covers is ever so slightly too small.The angles of the brackets are also just flat out wrong. If you want proper bracing the shelf won't be flat; if you want the shelf to be flat you won't have proper bracing. I'm going to attempt to bend the brackets but I'll be returning this if I can't do so.Edit: I was able to fairly easily bend the brackets to the point that I now feel confident in the structural integrity. Bumping to 3 stars because I play on keeping it.

I bought 2 of these now 1 for each big window in my home for my 2 13 pound pomerianians, they are very strong and easy to put up, I have 1 if them up without the brackets and it's still strong enough to hold my 2 pomerianians.I really love these and so do my fur baby's! 💕

This is my kitty's favorite spot now! It's well worth it and sturdy.
