Marvel 's Avengers: An Insider's Guide to the Avengers Films

This hardcover book celebrates the 4 MCU Avengers films. It isn't an in-depth "Making the Avengers films" type book. ALL the principal actors (except the shorted Guardians) get interviewed with 4-6 questions with long answers given in small print about their feelings on the films, their fellow players, etc. The Guardians only get 1-2 questions except for Karen Gillan (Nebula). Best of all, there are some 200 color photographs included. Many are shots of the costumed actors on the movie sets with the green screen in the background or concept artwork. Finally, included are interviews with Avengers behind-the-camera people like Joss Whedon, the Russo Brothers, Kevin Feige (Marvel President), and Sarah Finn, casting director for 21 of the 22 MCU films so far.

This gorgeous full-color movie companion follows the Avengers from the first Avengers movie through Avengers: End Game. It's a great overview of the characters and the movies. Each of the main Marvel superheroes, villains, and major human characters featured in the Avengers movies gets a 2 page spread (even my very favorite Agent Phil Coulson, not technically a superhero but an absolute star of the franchise). This includes a full-color/full-page photo, and an interview with 4-6 questions and an additional 2 photos. Each of the actors answers different questions that are specific to their roles/experiences/involvement in the franchise, and we even hear from writers, directors, casting, and of course the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige. There is exactly enough information here to follow along from the beginnings of this epic journey with the first Iron Man through the chilling finale that broke our hearts with its losses and gave us hope with those who remained. Each movie also gets a dedicated section of stills taken from the set. All photos are numbered and captions are easy to find and read and adequately descriptive.I'm a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and for me this book is a great offering that provides a quick character guide, an insight into the actors' thoughts and feelings about their roles and experiences, and an overview/timeline of Avengers to-date.The pictures are stunning, a mix of real-life stills and concept art. It's all presented in an attractive hardcover coffee table book, and while not all encompassing and in-depth, is still an exciting addition to a Marvel aficionado's bookshelf. I love having a movie companion that points out how intertwined all 22 Marvel films are, shows the growth and expansion of the universe over 11 years, and dives into the reasons behind decisions made in order to keep the cohesive story line moving along from movie to movie while still letting each one stand on its own (with the exception, in my opinion, of Infinity War and Endgame).Case in point of how exciting the book is, interviewed actors are a who's who of the Avengers movies: Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Gwenyth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. These items sell for £5 so I have no idea why Amazon are being greedy enough to ask for over £20!! Please take my advice and don't waste your money. The book is so thin, its basically flat. Without the hardcover it would be thinner than a magazine. 'Interviews' consist of a couple of questions that don't offer any 'insider' information.
